Here Lies the Daisy
Here lies the daisy,
A weed that grows in unlikely places,
Whose life will be ended by some controlling gardener.
Here lies the rose,
Its life already ended several hours before
So that it may rest on a cold stone slab
Near the daisy.
Here lies the woman,
Long since dead and almost forgotten,
Resting beneath the thick, moist soil,
Under a slab that has no rose.
Here grows the daisy,
That discarded daisy, above that woman's grave;
Soft petals, sweet scent, and a cheerful appearance
Make it a smile in an ocean of frowns.
A/N: This is one of my first attempts at free verse and I would really like some feedback on it. It was kind of fun to write, but I think I'm going to stick to rhyming for the majority of my poems. Thanks for reading!
