Chapter 1: Not good with kids
A/N: This story is one of my old stories. I originally wrote this for my best friend Kerr-chan:D. So I hope you will enjoy it as much as she enjoyed reading it. Jackie belong to her and Thomas is mine.

I was single and gay.
I hadn’t been in a relationship for a long time I guess I worked a lot. So I didn’t have time for any heart problems. My best friend was Eden Arike. He was a great friend. He was a teacher. He had a kid. No not like he was Nikki’s father. Nikki’s parents died when he was 4 so Eden became Nikki’s guardian. What the problem was? Ohh well… Eden fell in love with the kid. Nikki was 17 and Eden was 28. It was a hopeless situation. But I guess Eden really loved Nikki. Nikki had many psychological problems. I spoke with him 1 hour a month.
Nikki acted like a grownup. Which was really a shame because Nikki was a cute kid. He was handsome. Really. He had the bluest eyes and was just special. Eden loved him.
Well… that morning I had breakfast with Eden. Eden was as me bitten by a vampire when he was 28. That was the reason why we didn’t get any older. I think Eden’s real age was 38. I was 27. Eden had long silver hair and yellow eyes. He was a fine guy. He just loved the kid.
I sat with my hand on the table looking at Eden. “So how’s Nikki?” I asked.
Eden smiled. “Fine” he placed his finger on the menu. “I have to ask you to do me a favour”
It was there I expected it to be like could you pick Nikki up after school or get me a CD instead
“I need you to become a kid’s guardian,” he said.
I coughed. “WHAT!” I yelled. It was early morning in the café so no one noticed me yelling. Or I think they didn’t cared.
“Jackie listen up…” he looked at me with a serious glare. “Nikki isn’t a normal boy,” he said. “He’s a Shadowian,” he said.
“A what?” I asked. Wasn’t Shadowians just a part of a fairytale?
“Shadowian. A special race granted with powers beyond anyone’s imagination” Eden said. “The main reason why I became Nikki’s guardian was to protect him. The government want to prove the existence of Shadowians. The Shadowians can become a science project I wouldn’t allow that to happen to Nikki,” he said. “So I adopted him. Nikki is like his race. Bound to control a huge power. The legends say that a goddess created the Shadowians. She wanted them to save the humans from the Dragons and Vampires. But she saw that the Shadowians couldn’t do it by themselves… They needed to have a power… so she gave them energies. Bound to the nature and bound to serve the Shadowian” he ended.
“Err Eden listen… I don’t believe in fairytales anymore” I said. That story… Nikki? Could it be? Yes I had sensed something special about Nikki. But?
“I need you to become a Shadowians guardian,” Eden said. “His name is Thomas” he said merciless
“What! Are you insane?! I can’t take care of some kid,” I yelled.
“Thomas lost his mother in a car accident… he needs a place to stay. The Government want him. His eyes…” Eden mumbled. He raised the coffee cup and took a sip. “Thomas is an Eye fighter,” he said.
“What does that mean?” I asked.
“Thomas’s energy is bound through his eyes. He’s able to make people feel ashamed, break down and lose their soul” Eden answered. “But he’s not dangerous”
I coughed again. “Not dangerous?! What do I do if that kid decides to kill me?” I asked.
“He won’t. Thomas… is a very gentle kid,” he said. He placed his hand on the table. “Thomas will die if you don’t become his guardian. Just… meet him,” he begged.
I slowly nodded. It wouldn’t change anything. I would say no after all. We left the café after our silent breakfast. It was raining outside. We were headed toward the school. Was Thomas there? I found myself wondering how he looked like. Was he a small child? Was he older? I didn’t know anything.
I wanted the kid to be small… so I could turn him down. I didn’t want to take care of a kid. Who cared if the government took him… he… I really sounded selfish…
We arrived on the school and entered a classroom.
I think… my heart stopped. The boy in front of me was beautiful. He had the bluest eyes I had ever seen. His eyes… there were something magical about them. “Thomas?” I asked.
He looked at me. “Yes sir?” he asked. He was extremely polite. He didn’t seem like a kid who had lost his mother.
“How old are you?” I asked.
“16 sir” he answered. He looked down. He didn’t seem confident. He was scared. I could sense his fear. I wanted to protect him. Even though it was a weird feeling.
I sighed. I couldn’t just… “I want to see your powers,” I said.
Thomas seemed shocked almost scared. “I don’t want to” then it appeared to me… he was a child. “…I hate my powers,” he mumbled. “Mom got killed because of them,”
Eden looked at him. “Thomas…” Eden knew how to handle this kid. Why didn’t he just take him? “You can go to class now…” he said.
Thomas nodded. “Thank you sir” gone was all emotions. He left the classroom quickly.
I shook my head to answer Eden’s question. “No way” I said.
Eden slowly nodded. “Okay then he’ll die”
The pain shot through me like an axe. “W-what?”
“The government are picking him up after school. We need to get a guardian quickly.” Eden said.
I coughed “What?” I asked. I closed my eyes. This was serious. I… “Alright” I said. I couldn’t believe I accepted. “I’ll become his guardian”
