A/N: the end is near……..

Chapter 9

The older woman saw Raina running towards her and dropped Swinga to the ground. Raina slid down to the ground coming to a sudden stop in front of him; she put his head in her lap. “Swinga, wake up,” she moved his hair out of his face, he wasn’t responding to her at all. She looked up in fury. “You witch what did you do to him!!”

The witch bowed. “Well thank you little gypsy girl, you called me by my official title, thank you, that retched boy, he will be fine,….maybe.” The woman let off an evil cackle.

Raina looked back to Swinga. “My love,….” She leaned down and kissed him, hoping that he would wake up, no reaction at all. She heard the sound of metal on the soft earth and looked up, the area was surrounded by guards, there was the sound of struggling behind her, a guard stepped up his arms wrapped around Margaret.

The guard continued to struggle with the child. “We chased this one down into the lake, she was pretty tough to catch though.” Raina looked at the girl and shook her head. The girl stopped struggling.

Raina looked back at the witch who now was standing in front of the captain of the guard that caught her before. “Please let me have my daughter back.” She looked at the guard desperately.

“Why shouldn’t we just kill her, if she is your daughter she is of gypsy blood, vermin blood.” The captain said having a smug smile at Raina, he waved his hand and a guard walked up to Margaret with his sword drawn.

The witch raised her hand bending the sword away from the girl the guards were very surprised dropping the bent sword on the ground. “Let the woman have her daughter, a mother and child shouldn’t be separated.” The guard dropped Margaret, the child ran over to Raina dropping to her knees wrapping her arms around Raina’s stomach.

“Mommy I’m scared.” Raina nodded wrapping one arm around the child.

Raina kissed the top of her head. “its alright my dear they won’t hurt us.”

The witch smiled as Swinga started to move. “Now that my dear,” She looked at the captain of the guard. “Is the biggest understatement of your life.” The captain smiled. “Capture them.”

Raina’s eyes widened. She grabbed her dagger out of its sheath, giving it to Margaret. “Stab them dear, anywhere works, don’t let them touch you!!” Raina got up and ran to a tree, jumping into it as guards followed her, she had disappeared into the canopy the stood below looking for her. She swung down on a low branch and knocked them over breaking the branch as she flew. She crashed to the ground sat up shook her head, seeing the guards get up she picked up the branch, aiming to use it as a weapon.

It wasn’t long before the battle was over; the three of them were captured, the three of them were shoved into the back of the pig wagon and pulled into town, the towns people looked on in horror as the cart went by. The witch held a hood over her face as to hide who she was from the crowd. Raina stood. “YOU LOOK AT US, YOUR FELLOW MAN AND LET THIS HAPPEN WHEN THE REAL DANGER IS DRIVING US TO OUR DOOM!! THE HOODED ONE IS A WITCH!! SHE IS THE DANGER NOT US GYPSIES!!” she was hit over the head with a butt of a sword falling limp to the floor of the cart.
