Okay, this is for a school assignment. It’s the fractured fairytale for the classical tale, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves”. Please R&R, must know how I’ll go for school!
PS. I’m in 7th grade, so review me like a 7th grade teacher would please!! That’s why I haven’t put it in the children’s section, I want to know an older person’s perspective of it!
Snow White and the Very Seven Strange Tall Things
Prologue –
Spoilt
In a cave not too far from the desert lived a young dwarf girl known to be the most beautiful of the land. She had cheeks as scaly as a lizard, a long, glamorous beard of pure ebony and her skin whiter than snow – hence her name, Snow-White. Her dwarf father was the king of their mountain’s cave and her mother long since deceased. After her mother had died her father remarried to a woman also very beautiful and everyday her step-mother would go to her special magical mirror who could not lie and asked curiously, “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest dwarf of them all?” and every day it was the same answer:
“You are the fairest dwarf of them all, My Majesty.”
And so everyday Snow-White’s step-mother was so pleased with herself she would love her step-daughter more than anything. But Snow-White was one to be envious and she hated her father for marrying a woman so beautiful. She hated her new mother, and she was to have revenge. So the little dwarf girl plotted against her father’s wife to become prettier, and soon you could see young Snow-White prettier than anyone. This was proved when her father’s wife went to her mirror and asked, “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest dwarf of them all?”
In return the mirror said in a surprised voice, “The young dwarf known as Snow-White is the fairest of all, My Majesty, none is a beautiful as she.” To hear such words were astonishing to the woman dwarf, and she could not believe her very daughter was more beautiful than she, the Queen.
She rushed to her step-daughter and said, “My little angel, you are so beautiful you are the prettiest of them all.” And Snow-White smiled with delight.
“Yes, of course, you could never be as pretty as I.” she said in a smug voice. Then she demanded superiorly, “You are unworthy of my presence, you ugly old dwarf. I demand you leave instantly or I shall. No dwarf is as pretty as I, for I have the longest beard, the baldest head and the scaliest cheeks. I demand you leave to the desert at once and I hope never to see you again.” The Queen could not believe she had raised such an envious daughter; she dragged Snow-White to her bedroom and gave her a good spanking on the bum. “You shall not talk to me like that, young dwarf.”
That night Snow-White plotted her revenge again. She would not let this go unnoticed. She went to the mirror and snapped, “I demand to know the prettiest dwarf of them all!”
“Why, you are, My Majesty.”
“Good.” she spoke to herself. Then, she said, “If I run away, will my ugly step-mother miss me and want me back?”
“Why, yes, of course. Your step-mother loves you dearly.”
“Excellent.” Snow-White said in a shallow, shrill voice. When sun arose, Snow-White was already off into the desert.
Deep into the desert, seven mountains away from home, Snow-White came to a huge cave. It was larger than any she had ever seen before. She brushed her beared in thought, and then stomped into the cave where she saw a huge table almost three times the size of her with tall chairs. When she looked around she saw big beds she could not get onto. So desperate for food, she clung herself to a tall chair and finally reached the table. On the table she saw seven plates with tons of food and cups with drinks in them almost to her knees. Greedily, she came to a plate and gobbled as much as she could, but still lots were left. Once she was full she jumped onto a chair and then onto the floor where she would make her way to a bed as tall as her. She tried to untuck the sheets from the beds but until she came to the seventh bed, she finally got a hold of the blanket and pulled it to the floor where she slept for the night as she could not reach the beds. When the ones who lived in the cave with tall objects they saw things were out of place something was wrong. But the seven owners were not dwarves; they were people with long legs, no beards and hair on top of their heads.
The first man said, “Someone has left the door open!”
The second said, “Someone has pulled my chair out!”
The third said, “Someone has nibbled on my food!”
The fourth said, “Someone has untucked my sheets!”
The fifth said, “Someone has moved my pillow!”
The sixth one said, “Someone has pulled my sheets off my bed and onto the floor!”
And the seventh most shortest one of all said, “Someone has taken my blanket off my bed and they’re sleeping on top of it on the floor with a sheet over them!” All the people gathered round Snow-White sleeping and looked at her features.
“She is so ugly, the poor girl. She was probably rejected from her homeland, maybe we should keep her.” the third man said.
“Are you absolutely sure it’s a girl?” one very strange tall thing asked. When Snow-White awoke she saw seven very, very tall dwarves with no beards looking at her pitifully.
“Who are you?” she demanded. “I am the princess of the mountain far, far away from here and I am the prettiest of them all!”
“You poor little girl. You are so short.” one tall thing stated.
“You are too tall. You have no beards and hair on top of your head, you look very strange.” Snow-White observed. Suddenly, she remembered that she was meant to disguise herself. “Please, help me. My evil step-mother is so angry at me for being so pretty she has tried to kill me by sending me to the desert. I am so lost...and hungry...and I am dying of thirst.” And so the men let her stay. They said that her step-mother would find her soon so she was not to let anyone through the door while they were at work searching for water in the desert. She promised that if she ever saw her step-mother, she would not let her in.
