Am I a song,

That one should sing such strains

Of love?

Am I a bird,

That I should fly so high

To fall?

Am I a word,

That one should understand me

Even though I fail.

Am I a song,

That I should be sung?

Well You’ve taken me

A worthless sparrow’s calling

And made me resonate

With purity and love.

You sing Your song,

And I am but a thread of harmony

You say the word,

And Lord, I pray, it’s done.

Am I a thought

That suddenly escapes

The mind?

Am I a whisper

Lost inside a thund’rous

Breeze?

Am I but dust

That gives a man a place to tread

So let it be

Am I a song

That I should be sung?

Chorus

Singing in the breeze

The words get blown away

And find a home in sparrow’s ears

And join the chorus of the day.

And why do sparrows sing so

Where we will form a frown?

And why can’t I just love You

With all my feeble heart?

Chorus
