What’s Harder?
By E.B. Keane-Farrell

She’s broken up ’cause of what you said,

’Cause those words were directed right to her.

She felt them go through her heart,

And break her up inside.

And, as your voice hit the floor,

She knew that her lifestyle now closed a door.

All those words tore down her life,

Made her hand reach for the knife.

Her mouth twitched with anger,

Her eyes filled with tears;

Can’t you see that your words don’t comfort her,

But rather fill her with fears?

By what you said, looks like her way to Heaven’s shut.

It’s sealed, and she can’t go back.

She can’t decide what’d make her more miserable:

Being in love and being denied,

Or denying love and being alive.
