Patriotism 1-10-07
The often forgotten obligation,
Living in such a country as The USA
The place you call your home
Why don’t you pledge I ask you
You say you don’t know
I ask you why you live here
Enjoying your freedoms today
You say because it America
And I say yeah the home of the brave
The men and women fighting across the seas
You look confused
So I continue on with rage
I ask if you love this country
The place of liberty
You say you do
So I ask you
Why don’t you pledge today
You say you don’t have to
And I say oh contraire
I remember the battle letters my friends receive
From family and siblings over seas
You say that I don’t know a thing
About this so called pledging
And that I put on a show
Oh if you were to know
The suffering I heard
You would not dare to utter a single word
I tell I’ve been to see the soldiers coming home
And most rush to see before their families
Their comrades that fell in battle
That are now home
You ask why I care if you pledge
I’ll tell you this now
Those who don’t pledge or not deserving of the things
Those men and women are fighting for
They fight everyday
Knowing the price they might have to pay
For those at home in their beds
We owe so much to those who died
And even more to those who choose
To let you snooze
While they fight for our every right
And that’s why I’m disgusted by you
