REVIEW REPLIES AT THE BOTTOM!
Chapter 3:
Two weeks had passed since school had started and Edward was becoming used to finding Isabella asleep on his bed with him in the mornings. She would come by to see her brother and hang out with them and before they knew it Edward and Isabella would fall asleep on the bed. Sam would always set the alarms and head to bed himself completely unperturbed that his sister kept sleeping in a bed with a guy. Edward had asked why Sam never moved her, but Sam just shrugged with a giant grin and then walked away.
“Edward! Edward, wait up!” Melanie’s shrill voice echoed throughout the hall.
Edward sighed and bought himself to a stop. He noticed that Melanie had a grin on her face that usually ended up with him agreeing to something he didn’t want to have anything to do with in the beginning. She stopped next to him and rocked back and forth on her heels while grinning up at him. Edward wanted to hurry up and finish their conversation so he could head to his next class, but he could tell that Melanie was going to take a while.
“So did you hear that your favorite band is going to be playing here next weekend?” Melanie finally said causing Edward to groan inwardly because he knew exactly where the conversation was headed now.
“And?” Edward asked in response.
“And guess who just happens to have two tickets in the front few rows!” Melanie responded here voice rising about an octave before she finished her sentence.
“Melanie I hate to turn you down on that offer, but I’ve got a big important paper becoming due in the next two weeks so I don’t have any time to go to a concert. I’m sorry though,” Edward responded trying to come up with an honest reason why he couldn’t go to the concert.
“Oh well, that’s okay. I’ll just ask David to go with me,” Melanie replied putting on a small smile.
“David Nichols?” Edward couldn’t help but ask.
“Yes, do you know him?” Melanie responded genuinely surprised that he knew the same person as her.
“Of course David is one of my friends,” Edward told her.
They continued on their conversation for a little while longer before Edward looked at his watch and realized he needed to get to his next class quickly or he would be in big trouble. He took off down the stairs of the building shouting a goodbye to Melanie as he rushed to get to his next lecture class. He arrived at the class right when the professor stood up to begin his lecture. The man glanced at him before starting to speak.
By the end of the class Edward wanted nothing more than to go back to his room and fall asleep. This was his last class of the day, but he knew that his activities for the day were far from over. Edward walked slowly towards his building expecting a phone call any minute saying that he should come and play whatever game at whatever time, but nothing happened. He got to his room and opened the door, highly surprised when it was empty.
Edward threw down his backpack and took a running leap at his bed. He had raised it up off the ground so he could store his dresser underneath. Once he was on the bed he realized just how tired he was actually was, and within a few minutes he was asleep. He didn’t wake up for several hours later and it was to the sound of an opening door. Sam slowly walked into the room when he noticed the light was off and Edward watched as he moved around the room without even turning the light on. When Sam was over by his desk with his back completely facing Edward, Edward decided to call out to his roommate.
“Where the heck have you been all day?” Edward exclaimed and then laughed when Sam jumped and almost fell backwards.
“Holy! Ed, what the hell were you thinking? Don’t scare me like that,” Sam replied holding his hand to his heart.
“Sorry Sammy, just wondering why I actually had time to myself for the first time in two years,” Edward responded leaning back against the wall behind his bed.
“No real reason. I was just studying and decided that I didn’t really want to do anything else today,” Sam said while turning back to face the desk.
“Right, I don’t quite believe that, but at the same time I’ll just let it go. What time is it anyways?” Edward said shaking off the last of his sleep.
“8:46 at night, Ed. You have been unconscious for several hours. I came back earlier to get books and found you completely unconscious on the bed. Are you having sleeping problems?” Sam said turning on his computer and sitting down in his chair.
“Nope, just felt really exhausted after lecture today,” Edward replied.
After that their conversation returned to the normal this and that conversation that they were used to. Edward was wondering what Sam was up to, but he wasn’t going to push the issue since it wasn’t his place to begin with. The only one who would have probable reasons to push him would be Isabella. Edward laid back down for a few minute before getting up and going to his computer to start typing on one of his many assignments. Three hours later Sammy got up and made a phone call and then twenty minutes later Isabella came into the room with another girl.
This girl was relatively tall and she had short brown hair and hazel eyes. She walked into the room with a confidence that seemed to be bouncing off in waves. She looked at Edward for only a moment before turning to stare at Sammy. Sam stood looking slightly uncomfortable under her stare. Isabella must have noticed the confused look on Edward’s face because she moved to stand next to him and then leaned down to whisper to him.
“This is my roommate Tara. I’m pretty sure she has a thing for Sam and since he doesn’t know his feelings for her, he feels very uncomfortable when she’s around. They have a class together and were studying down in my room earlier since you were unconscious,” Isabella whispered with a grin.
“So I take it there was more than just Sammy walking into the room while I was unconscious?” Edward replied glancing back at Sam and the girl Tara who were having a staring contest.
“Yes, she wanted to meet you though so she ‘ordered’ Sam to call me and tell us when you were awake,” Isabella said with a laugh.
“Huh. Well maybe I should go and step in to introduce myself since Sammy seems to be getting more uncomfortable by the moment,” Edward said laughing as well.
Edward stood up and moved slowly towards the two staring figures. He made his way towards the girl first. Once he was standing in front of her, he gave a smile and stuck out his hand to greet her. She slowly turned to look at him and then down at his hand. Finally after what seemed like forever she stuck her hand out to meet his.
“Hey, I’m Edward Harrison. I usually go by Ed though. I hear you are Isabella’s roommate,” Edward said trying to not show that he was even the slightly bit uncomfortable in front of this girl.
“I’m Tara Fredrick. I’ve heard so much about you that I felt it was necessary to come and introduce myself. I was wondering why I never see my roommate during the night,” the girl said bluntly.
Isabella cleared her throat and Edward felt his eyes widen slightly before he struggled to comment, “It’s not what you think. Sam has been here every night with us as well. He just never wakes his sister up and so we just sleep through the night.”
“I never doubted that you had a legitimate reason. I just felt like seeing if I could make you as uncomfortable as possible,” Tara said before breaking out into a grin that made Edward take a step back. The look that smiling gave her was the complete opposite of what look she had on her face previously. It gave her a kind of glow and Edward immediately noticed that Sam relaxed slightly when she smiled.
The rest of the evening was spent chatting with Tara and Isabella. At around midnight Tara drug Isabella from the room and back to her own room. The boys stayed up for about ten extra minutes before both decided it was way passed time to fall asleep. Edward laid down on his bed and found that he couldn’t go to sleep. He tossed and turned trying to find a comfortable spot, but he was having little success until he found a spot that smelled slightly of vanilla. The next thing he knew he was waking up for the next day.
