Prologue:

He stared menacingly as she raised her hand at him the glow of yellow surrounding her. Her long auburn hair blew in the fierce wind as he fought back and her green eyes flashed as she became even angrier. Finally he fell to his knees his own deep red eyes filled with utter defeat.

“Now” she commanded, “You have lost the battle. Return to the darkness until the day when we shall face each other again.”

“When that time comes” he hissed through his teeth as he stood to his feet, “I will not be defeated so easily again. When I am reborn DARKNESS will conquer the LIGHT once and for all.”

And with those final words he disappeared in a puff of dark smoke. She fell to her knees, exhausted from the battle that had raged on for ten days.

“It is over” she whispered, “LIGHT has overcome DARKNESS once again. Now I can rest and pray that my inheritor is as successful as I was.”

The Future 2007

9:00 a.m.

The alarm on the table beside her bed sounded off so loudly that she practically knocked it off onto the floor before grumbling and sitting up. She brushed a strand of hair from her eyes and stood from her bed to walk over to her dressing table where a large mirror shone as the sunlight coming from the window hit it. Sleepily she rubbed her eyes and pulled a brush off the table to begin to untangle the knots from her split ends.

“I guess you really need to get a haircut,” she told herself with a sigh as she stared at her figure as little as it was through her thick pajamas.

“Emily!” a familiar voice called from downstairs, “Susan says to hurry up or you’ll be late!”

Emily Rochelle sighed again as she dropped back onto her bed and stretched staring disgustedly at the uniform she would have to wear to work later.

“It’s summer and I have to go work” she grumbled a second time as her hazel brown eyes focused on a small blue book on her bedside table, “Well no time like the present” she stood up once more and grabbed her favorite bath towel to go and take a shower.

Space

Somewhere near Jupiter

9:15 a.m.

He walked over to the side of his leader as the ship moved about the planets, stars, and moons so easily.

“Captain” he replied, “They have finally located what we have been looking for.”

“Are you certain?” the sixteen- year old curiously asked his grey eyes twinkling slightly.

“Yes. I just got word from Engineering. And He has even verified it.”

“Well then, good work” the Captain smiled, “What planet?”

“I believe they call it Earth sir.”

“Earth. Very well. Set a course for Earth at once. We don’t have time to waste.”

“Yes sir” his second in command nodded his dark hair moving slightly as he stepped forward to inform the pilots, “You heard the Captain. Get this ship moving in that direction on the double” he commanded.

“Yes sir” they nodded in unison as they pushed the power booster and the ship began to move even faster forward.
