heartsick
In her clinging adolescence,
she hangs on chains of guilt;
laughs in the face of pity.
And you stare at her,
Starstruck and heartsick,
Like there is no other way to be.
I walk this wire between you both,
Scars forming on my heart before
I even get a chance to open my mouth.
