Dost the Lady Faustus believe she might cheat the Devil? He who creates the rules be not easily fooled, I assure thee, yet still she cries to the Darkness with half hope that Faulty Prayers shall be answered with naught but little consequence. The Dark King knows the dreams of this Deceptive Lady and why she doth beg for the exchange of her soul.

Gladly he accepts her proposal: to find that one moment of bliss in which she will desire to remain eternally though it shall bring about her demise. Once the flesh is nothing more than an empty shell, the soul of Lady Faustus shall belong eternal to Lucifer.

To avoid that one moment of bliss is to grant immortality to herself, yet still she seeks that which she originally prayed powerfully for. Is the Lady Faustus a fool? A jester? Nay, she speaks with her heart and seeks only that which she would be willing to surrender life itself for.

Obtaining the one thing she seeks so powerfully, she sheds a tear of joy only to collapse into the Dark. Flesh of man dies, and so the Unclean One comes that he might claim that which was rightfully promised him through the contract signed in blood. The Broken Soul longs to live once again, but knows it is too late to compromise. Dragged away with head held low, the Lady Faustus cries to the Light for forgiveness.

Repentance is welcomed. The God of Light knows that Lady Faustus died for faith and belief. Perhaps not a belief in Himself, but for a thing equally powerful in the Realm of Man. Reaching from the Heavens with Invisible Hands, a soul is pulled up from Hell. The Lady Faustus has been redeemed for the commitment she practiced in life. And so the Lady Faustus dost complete an impossible task, cheating the Devil.

School has made writing harder to do. Living in the dorms during summer here is hectic and often time-consuming, not to mention when I go home on weekends I'm without a computer for writing. So check for updates to other stories from week to week! C.P.
