Smothered

I walk along the shadows

smothered form the light

I open the door,

covered in the night

I step inside as I look around

There’s no warmth, no hope,

no solid ground

So still, so lonely, no not a sound

I stand so still, I can hear my heart pound

Suddenly a black mist swirls in from the night

It gives a shriek of terror and holds me tight

I must make a choice and I must do it right

For I only have tonight, short like the rest of my life

Please hold me

I need your wings

Please leave me

I can’t stand your strength

The pressure from this world has brought me down

The joys of this world has turned me around
