Mommy

Mommy, there’s a strange woman at the door.
She looks like you, but she doesn’t act like you.
She hits and screams because of simple mistakes.

Mommy, there’s a strange woman at the door.
She looks like you, but she doesn’t sound like you.
Her voice is tired from yelling at imperfection.

Mommy, there’s a strange woman at the door.
She looks like you, but she doesn’t feel like you.
Her touch is full of hatred for all but herself.

Mommy, there’s a strange woman at the door.
She looks like you, but she can’t BE you.
She is too bitter and self obsessed.

Mommy, I miss you.
Please come home.
