"Good-bye..."I said, taking the last step, knowing I couldn't turn back.

But I felt something, or someone, grab me free-flying hand and hold me up, dangling precariously over the edge.

"I've come too far to let you go now." Jack whispered, his hand gripping mine tighter.

I heard screams from below.

"Jack, just let me go. Let go." I said to him, begging him to end my life then and there.

"Never, Ali. I told you, I've come to far already. I love you too god damn much." he smiled at me.

I felt more tears welling up in my eyes. I shook my head.

"Let me go...I don't deserve this life. I already realized that my life has no purpose so just fucking let me go already." I screamed at him as he starteed to drag me up.

"Just because you don't think your life has a purpose doesn't mean I don't think it does." he whispered as he pulled me up, "And I know what my purpose in life is: you."

I stopped struggling. I looked up and met his intense gaze, mesmerized by the sight of him, red-eyed, tear-streaked face.

He pulled me up past the ledge and pulled me into a tight but gentle hug and we both started to cry. He stroked my wind-blown hair as I sunk deeper into his arms.

"Never do that to me again." He whispered in my ear, letting me know he really cared.

"Why? You don't like a little suspense?" I laughed, lightening the mood. He laughed, too.

Then he stopped. I stopped and looked up at him, wondering why he wasn't still laughing and stroking my hair. He was looking down at me. I moved my face a little closer to his and he moved his towards mine...

In the end...

The young couple made it down the tall building, holding hands and knowing they had found true love, and that not even the possibility of death could keep them apart.

As they walked out, the reporters asked many questions such as "Why did you do it?", "Do you love him?", and "Do you like blue cheese dressing?" but all were ignored. The young couple made their way throught the crowd and climbed into the man's car and drove away.

6 years later...

At the age of 22 Jack and Ali Morgin had their first child, a young girl named Hope Marie Morgin. The three of them lived happily for 3 more years when another child was born, a boy, named Carter Jacob Morgin, after his mother's maiden name and his dad's first name.

The four of them grew together, the parents never mentioning the terrible incident of which took place so many years ago.

14 years after that...

"Hey, mom, what's this article and video in the attic about a 'girl on a building, saved by boy'?" Hope called down to her mom, who was currently making dinner in the kitchen. Her mother froze.

"Oh, nothing, just some old project from school..." She called back.

"Can we watch it?" The daughter called back.

"No, and get ot of the attic. You don't know what's up there!" Her mom told her, trying to avoid the painful subject.

"Aw...Fine..." the young teenage girl agreed, coming out of the attic and walking into the kitchen.

"And there was a note with it, too. I don't know what it is. Look..." Hope handed a note to her mom...

"Ali,
Got my schedule changed. I don't have any classes with you, just to make you happy. I'm sorry I thought I liked you. You never have to see me again. Just wasted 13 years of my life thinking I liked you, but it was a waste of my time and yours, just like you said the other day. When you're alone and need someone, don't come to me, because I'll hate you like you hate me. I hope you're happy.

Loved,
Jack"

The older woman layed the letter down, tears coming to her eyes.

"It's nothing, Hope, just a little something from high school..."

A/N: Alright, my readers, that was it. A sequal may well be on the way, but it has yet to be conceived. Sorry to all those who wished for a longer story, but it was created as a one-shot, then grew when I realized it was a bit too big for a one-shot. So I dubbed it "mini-series" and that was that. It wasn't really about details.

And to make you fell special, I just wanted to tell you, this is the re-vamped, unedited one. I fixed all the mistakes (I think,) changed some non-purposely repetative words, and made cuss words cussier and verb words verbier. I'm laughing my tears away, I'm sorry. So this may be the end, or a wonderful new begining, but I'm not really sure where it would go from there...

Remeber, if you want to tell me what you think, I'm only a click away, and if you may have and ideas for a sequal or some criticisms, do not hesitate to do so! I love hearing from you, even if it's bad news; at least I know you read it! So tata for now, and read my other stories! I'm getting into this now!

Not Really Yours Truly,
The Captain, Makenzie
