eyelids

pleasantly droop

and I sway

absentmindedly

to the music

mind relaxes

and temporarily

forgets

the memories

not worth remembering

the chair

is comfortably cushioned

a nice change

and the keyboard

is strangely kind

to my clumsy fingers

I become one

with the music

that pulses

through my

exhausted body

and I allow

my breathing

to naturally slow

it’s past midnight

and sleep

is threatening me

and temptation

is near

my head

falls softly

onto my own

bony shoulder

while the computer

buzzes continually

if it were alive

I wonder

how it would feel

in this moment

and the room

grow fainter

until sleep

is finally upon me
