I happen to be reading one of my favorite books of all time and I happen to be listening to my favorite song of all time when Amaterasu comes running through my door and turns it off.

“Selene!!!!” She cried out! Why can’t she be quiet for once!?

“Yes Amaterasu?”

“Dad’s sending us away!”

I scoffed at her. Our father may have turned cold towards us after our mother died a few years ago, but he would never send away his two only daughters.

She heard me scoff and she walked over to me and stole and slammed my book shut!

“HEY! Give it back! I need to read it by fifth period tomorrow!”

“There will be no ‘fifth period by tomorrow’! He’s sending us away tonight!”

“Okay, calm down. Repeat the story.”

She sat down on the other end of my bed and sighed.

Blast it! She still had my book!

“Dad called me a bit ago and told me that he’s sending us to boarding school. Some crap about how it will let us have a taste of what real life is like before we enter.”

“Oh yeah, because sending us away is really telling us how a parent should act!” I interjected.

“I know! We’re leaving in the morning for The Opportunity School for the Highly Gifted.” She snorted here and continued on with the story. “We’ll stay there for our years of high school and vacations. He said that we’ll come back for summer, but coming from him, I’m not so sure.”

“Zeus and Hera are majorly pissed at us.”

“God ‘Lene! Would you shut-up about that and stop reading these books! What is it this time? Stories of Demigods and Demigoddess!?”

I snatched my book back and held it protected at my chest.

“Nooooo. It’s 101 Ways to Find Your Hidden Potential that I have to read for school.”

“False cover.” Asu’s smart when she wants to be which totally sucks for me seeing as she always does it when she wants to find out what I’m doing.

“Fine. It’s The Legends of the Great Divine: Gods and Goddess. Happy?”

“Why do you read these all the time? Can’t you just let go of it!?”

“Look,” I said, getting up and staring at her (she hates when I do this). “Mom gave us these names for a reason. There’s something different about us and you know it. I want to figure it out.”

“Yeah, Yeah.” she said as she walked out of my room. “You better start packing. We’re leaving at three a.m. tomorrow.”

I groaned at this what with me not being a morning person at all. Why three!? Gods, could this be any worse.

Holler, strike my father down!
