Panic! At the Disco- Build God, Then We'll Talk
xxxChapter 5xxx
“WHAT?!” I screeched. My ears were ringing, my throat dry. The Eaters….killed my family?
Perui looked like she was about to cry. “Yes….they killed everyone in you town. Except….you.”
“…”
Suddenly and without warning, Perui leaned down and gav me a huge hug. For some reason, the fact that I was hugging an almost complete stranger who, for all I knew, may want to kill me, didn’t disturb me one bit. I let my tears flow.
When Perui let go, I could tell she had been sobbing right along with me. Kenshi looks uncomfortable but sad.
“They did that to all your towns, didn’t they.” I stated, suprising myself. Where had that statement come from? Was it that weird memory voice again?
They all looked appropriately startled. “Yes. How did you know?” Toru asked.
I took a deep breath, then explained to them about the tree with the cat, and walking into my dad’s office, and how I felt like I was remembering something that had never happened.
“It’s like I have someone else’s memories alng with my own.”
Toru looked startled, and Perui gasped.
“What? Is that bad?” I was pretty worried now.
“No! I mean…nothing! Nothing!” Kenshi said. I was suspicous. This sounded like a cover-up for something important. But before I could call him out on this, he looked at his watch. “We’ve got ten minutes. Come on, we better get moving.”
“Wait! Are you going to leave me here?” First I had been afraid of them, then I was afraid they’d leave. Boy, that sedative was strong. I still couldn’t fully see or hear, and I couldn’t even sit up. But I sure as hell didn’t want to be left here, especially if what they said was true.
How come I survived, but everyone else was killed? I wondered.
“Of course not! Unless you want us to,” Perui said.
“No! No! Take me with you! But wait….I still can’t move. How are we going to get me out of my house?”
“Well, we have to go. So I guess I’ll have to carry you.” Toru said.
And in one quick movement, Toru swept me up onto his shoulders. I winced in pain.
“Sorry.”
“Don’t be.”
“Perui and I still have some analyzation to do in here. Take the Heeb into the hall and keep an eye on her til she wakes up. Ok, Toru?”
“Ok, Kenshi.”
“My name is Rei!” I said defiantly. “Stop calling me ‘the Heeb’!”
Toru carried me around the disastourous remains of the study and out through the door into the hall way, where he set me down, leaning against the wall.
“What exactly is going to happen to me?” I asked.
HE sat down next to me, leaning against the wall and ran a hand through his spiky brown-black hair.“Well, we’ll take you back to our headquarters. We only have a few other Heebs on the force, but-“
“’The Force’?”
“Yeah. You see, after They destroyed out towns, we joined The Force. The Force fights Them and we all hope to one day save our loved ones.”
“How can you save them if they’re already dead?”
“Well, the souls of everyone killed by the Eaters can be saved. But only if the Force finds The One.”
“’The One’?” So many names were involved, and I wasn’t even fully awake yet! Damn, this was getting complicated.
“The one who shares the memories of The Force Founder. You see, The Force Founder was a Heeb, and a female, just like you. She began The Force, and risked her life one day to keep The Force intact. They killed her that day.”
“Oh..”
“Yeah.”
I felt kind of uncomfortable. This was the kind of thing I thought only happened in stories on FictionPress. But it was real.
“Say, are you Ok? I’m sorry I kind of….knoced you out.” Toru said with a sheepish laugh.
“I’ll live.” I said. Boy, this was one long day. Which reminded me- what happpened to me?
“Wait…did you guys just find m lying there?”
“Um…yea….sort of.”
“’Sort of’?”
“Wellll….things in the room were kind of flying around.”
“Weird much. Why?”
“We don’t know. Something having to do with you. You were causining it. And I think there were Eaters in the room”
“While unconsious? Wait, did the Eaters kill me?”
“Noo, you’re still here, duh! But see, that’s the funny part. How were you doing that while knocked out?”
“No idea. But if I was knocked out, how come you had to make it worse?” I glared at him, but it was hard to cold my stare. I just couldn’t be mad at him for some reason.
“Well, you kinda were making things flying around the room. What would you have done?”
“Right.”
We sat in silence for a while. “Wait, what time is it?”
“Uhh…like, 4:30.”
“Damn I was out long! How much of that stuff did you give me?”
“I…I…I d-don’t know! I was in a hurry..I’m really, really sorry Rei.” He looked so sad, it made my heart melt. Weird.
“It’s fine,” I said, “But what’s going to happen now?”
“You’ll probably join the force. That’s what we all did.”
“And what if I refuse???”
Toru gave me a weird look. “Well, you’re going to be stuck living in this barren wasteland all alone. Unless you go to another town, but that’ll probably get attacked too, and then you may get killed that time around, otherwise we’ll just find you again.”
I shivered. “Gee, is that all?”
HE shrugged. “I think you’ll be good on The Force. You have something different about you.” We looked at eachother for a moment.
“Thanks for saving me, though. I wasn;t sure if you guys would kill me or whatnot.”
He laughed. “No, much the opposite. Hey, are you feeling any better now?”
“Yeah,” I said. I could fully see now, althoug I was still weak from the shoulders down. “Can’t walk, though.”
Just then. Kenshi and Perui exited the room. “OK, are we ready to go? Toru, can she walk yet?”
“You could just ask me, you know.” I said.
Kenshi looked over at me with a stone-hard face, and I immeadeately regretted my omment. But then his face softened. “You’ll be good on The Force.”
“So I hear.”
