An Angel’s Song
”Broken wings, feathers fall to the ground
Voiceless cry through the darkest night
I call you now – the calls silent sound
Echoes alone and past fills my sight
I see the candle shining so bright
Through the window I see the black sky
I hear your voice, under the moonlight
Telling how your love’ll make me fly
I remember the roses you gave to me
The black roses, heralding what was to come soon
In the light of the candles they were dark to see
But you gave them, you gave them under the moon
And silver moon was on the sky
You gave me a bouquet of black roses
Promising our love to last
But the roses sang of how it would end soon…
I saw a white bird flying to me
And I knew it was a form of an angel
From you it was coming, hurrying to me
To bring the message of sorrow and anger
To me the bird sang an angel’s song
The song so sweet, but sad and wistful
And I cried as I listened that sad song
I cried for I knew it’s meaning so mournful
Oh, those black roses
Alone now in my window
Dying roses, falling star
Hopes we shall never fail…
And now as I sit in the candle light
And recall all those moments we had
I watch those flowers you gave to me that night
And the roses remind me of the song so sad
Like a flame unbreathing
Like a wave on the sea
Like an angel without wings so white
Like an eagle soaring high
That’s what you are to me
That’s what you’ll be
That is what I reached towards
And always wished to have…”
