The Body You Leave

I clenched a faith in the clouds melting,
Smoth'ring the dawn before it rose,
But soon my hands were cold and tender.
Skin was stone beneath mussed clothes

And water would not do the trick:
The steam slid off me, down the drain.
Our room is circled by callous winds
It seems you've up and left again.
