Brokedown Palace

Open windows harbor darkness;
Shattered glass summons the light.
As I meet the empty manor.
Hazy torches aid my sight.

The rooms cry out with spirit whispers,
Yet I am safe and wanted here,
Ascending to the bedroom chambers
To hush my cautionary fear.

And I lay my head down softly,
Clinging to the cold, stone floor,
To dream the house with wild fancies
Knowing I can make it more.

You can be my brokedown palace;
Share with me our silver flame,
Protect me from empty existence,
Let my destruction cause no shame.
