Floating

Her parents said she was “troubled”
She wasn’t like her brother
Her brother was perfect, popular
An all-star athlete

She cried too much
Had no friends
And didn’t play sports
She just wasn’t him

Every day was a struggle
At school, they made jokes
She was too different to fit in
Her brother wouldn’t even eat lunch with her

She held on as long as she could
Visited her favorite spot on the roof
She liked being closer to the stars
Up there, no one could touch her

That night she imagined she was perfect
Elegant, peaceful
She floated to the ground
But no one was there to catch her
