On The Street

Lying on the street with an empty bottle in her left hand

Watches as the dressed ones go by

In their leather coats and shiny boots

They stop to talk in the telephone booth

How can they spend and talk to another

While she is dying in the gutter?

-

She is on her way to the cities social office

They're supposed to help her but refuse

The feeling of anger is long time gone

So she sits down to wait for none

A tourist gives her something and tells her to think

She's going to spend that on something to drink

-

All her promises are made through thick windows

All her hopes are left behind in a public bar

-

The televisions in the TV shops are echoing

More promises are made

Apparently she's supposed to have a proper home by May

At least so does the minister say
