Shira woke up in the same position she had fallen asleep in; curled up on top of Shade. This time, she happened to note though, he was also asleep. His book lay bookmarked on the coffee table, and his arms were wrapped comfortably if not slightly possessively around her waist. She yawned, rubbing sleep from her eyes, and glanced around the room. No clock. She looked at Shade’s wrist. Nothing. A slight frown covered her face. She didn’t know barely anything about what was happening. But nevertheless, she was stuck on this new world, and she was gonna have to deal with it.

She stirred a little, and unknowingly awoke Shade. One minute he was snoozing, the next she looked back and his eyes were upon her.

She let out a yelp of surprise and jolted slightly in his arms. He chuckled lightly, pulling her closer against him. A flush rose in her face.

“Good morning, Shira,” he said, nuzzling into her neck. “I thank you for not running away.” Shira spared him the detail of her having just woken up.

“So,” said Shade, sliding one hand under her knees and the other behind her back, suddenly lifting her up to carry her to the kitchen. She stared at him. “Are you hungry?”

Shira blinked. Was he being...nice? Well no shit Sherlock, her mental voice droned at her. He’s been being nice the entire time, minus the shooting you in the stomach thing. She ignored the voice, instead paying attention as Shade set her on the black counter of his strangely clean kitchen. She watched him as he moved around the kitchen, grabbing things from the cabinets and small fridge, then frying three eggs in a pan while at the same time frying two chopped potatoes. Her mouth hung agape as she watched him. He flipped the eggs with a flick of his wrist and set the pan down to stir the potatoes, then pull open the fridge and pour two glasses of milk.

“Here,” he said, handing her a place with one egg and half of the potatoes, as well as a glass of milk. “Eat.”

He set his own on the table, facing her who was still sitting on the counter. She kicked her legs randomly, taking a bite out of the potatoes. As she’d expected, they were good. He watched her as he himself dug into his food. She attempted to pretend he wasn’t watching her and stared at her plate, quickly finishing the potatoes and the egg. She chugged the glass of milk, setting it down. She hopped gracefully off the counter, deciding to be nice, and set the dishes in the sink. She practically felt his eyes on her back and turned. He was finished too, despite the larger breakfast.

They had a staring contest for a few moments before Shade spoke. “I’m going out later.”

She stared at him.

“I have errands to run.”

Staaare.

“I can’t take you.”

Staaaaaaare.

“You’re staying here.”

Shira sighed, pushing her hair short hair back and running her hand through it.

“Am I going to be locked in?”

“Do you have to be?”

Shira contemplated this for a moment.

“I like to think I don’t.”

“Give me proof.”

Shira sighed loudly, looking back at him, a blush rising in her face for some reason. She quickly fought it back down and spoke.

“First off, I don’t even know what bloody world I’m on.” He gave her a weird look. “Long story, don’t feel like telling,” she said to explain quickly, then went on. “You say we’re in the underground, and I’m guessing that that’s...under the ground?”

“Yes.”

“See, I have a map, but it’s not of down here. So...I’d get lost.

“I also have no clothes besides the ones I’m wearing, I only have 250, and I don’t know how things run socially here.

“You give me food, water, a shower, and shelter, as well as some comfort. What reason would I have to run away, now that I think about it.”

He thought for a moment before nodding. “Ok, I won’t lock you in. I do ask that you stay here, though. You can go out with me in like...two days, kay?”

She nodded, deciding that would work the best. Enough time to recover and get together her thoughts.

“One thing, though,” she said, holding up a finger as he stood to leave. “You have to apologize for shooting me.”

He looked at her with a raised eyebrow and a smirk. “Okay.” He walked over to her, pushing her lightly against the counter and keeping her there with hand on either side. He leaned forward on said hands and gave her a light, loving kiss. The shock of it almost knocked her over. “I’m sorry for shooting you.”

She got back her breath and nodded. “I can forgive you,” she said breathily.

He smiled and nodded at her before standing up, waving, and leaving.

She waited about five minutes before walking to the front door and testing it. True to his word, he’d left it unlocked. She sighed, but turned away from the door. She’d probably just get lost anyway.

Shira wandered around the apartment for a moment before going to the bathroom, clicking on the lock and shedding her clothes. She went to the shower, turning it on hot. She stepped in, sighing in bliss. A shower was nice. As soon as she was done, she dried off and stepped out of the bathroom, going over to his dresser while wrapped in a towel. She dug through, pulling out a long-sleeved black button-up shirt and some jeans that were way big on her. She used the belt from her own clothes to hold them up, still baggy but not looking bad. She tugged on the shirt, not bothering to unbutton it. She went into the bathroom, looking at her reflection in the mirror. She ran her fingers through her hair before giving up to leave it to dry spiky. She walked back into the bedroom, glancing around. She noticed her shoes, ancient Etnies from her own town that were about to fall apart.

She walked into the living room, looking around boredly.

Gah, what does he expect me to dooo? Sleep more? She dug through the living room, finding nothing of interest. She went back into the bedroom, collapsing on the bed. She scowled at the ceiling in boredom. She sighed again, standing up. She went to the dresser again, looking through all the drawers until she reached the bottom one. Bingo. Finding not clothes but office-like stuff, she pulled out some blank paper and a sharpened pencil. She brought it to the kitchen, setting it down.

She spent the next two hours drawing picture after picture, still bored out of her mind. After the 22nd picture, she dropped the pencil and her head on the table. Around her lay scattered intricate drawings of cities, people, animals, surreal things, etcetera. She leaned over to grab the last sheet of paper. She stared at it for a moment before grabbing the pencil, and started to draw one of the few places she missed from home.

A half hour later, her best drawing sat in front of her, with the perfect shading. She imagined herself at the place in her drawing, waves crashing against the rocks around her and thunder echoing as a storm approached over the darkened sea. The wind howled through her hair, her green eyes alight with the excitement of a storm at sea. She stared down at the little drawing of the empty beach and sketched the one thing on it she was missing; Her.

Somehow, she fell asleep.

--

“Hello? Shira?” Shira’s head snapped up from it’s place on the table, hearing Shade’s voice.

“Huh?” She blinked a few times, looking up to see Shade leaning against the door frame, smirking. He walked over, looking around at the drawings scattered about her.

“Well at least you didn’t get that bored...” he muttered, standing behind her. She glanced up at him from the corner of his eye.

“Don’t you have any music? Anywhere?” she asked, pouting.

“Music? Sure.” He left the kitchen. “What kind?”

She thought for a moment. “Classical guitar?”

He peered from the living room, raising an eyebrow at her. “You expect me to have that ancient kind of music?”

“You better.”

“Don’t, though. No one knows how to play a guitar anymore.”

Shira gaped at him. “No one?!” she asked, stunned.

“Nope. It’s a lost art. We don’t even have any guitars left.”

Shira dropped her head onto the table with a resounding thunk.

“That sounded painful,” she heard him say from the living room. “Here, listen to this.”

He flipped on some music. Her head perked up at the sound of it. “Is that in Japanese?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Yeah...” he mirrored her look. “It’s not that amazing.”

She shrugged, leaving the topic.

“Where do you wanna go when we go out?” he asked. She looked up to see him standing at the doorway again.

“I don’t know,” she said. “I don’t know anywhere to go.”

“Well I’m guessing you like noodles,” he said, smirking lightly.

“I love them,” she deadpanned.

“Kay, I know where to go then,” he said, flipping his ponytail over his shoulder and turning. “I’m gonna take a shower.”

“That’s nice.”

“By the way, I got something for you. As much as I love seeing you in my clothes, I thought you might like some of your own. Look by the door.”

Shira finally stood up from the table, popping her neck and back loudly. She heard the bathroom door close and the shower start before she walked to the door, finding a paper bag beside it. She pulled it up, reaching in to feel cloth. She pulled out clothes, a small smile gracing her face. She found some dark green capris kind of like the ones she had with a matching t-shirt. She found two more black belts with metal holes in them. She dug in more, finding some baggy black bellbottom pants and a black tank top as well as long-sleeved shirt to match. She dug further, finding two more shirts and pants, one set dark brown and the other dark blue, before reaching the bottom. She found a set of red and black striped arm warmers and a black choker with a butterfly on it. She smiled lightly, laying them all out neatly on the bed. She stared at them for a moment before laying them neatly back in the bag, and setting the bag on the side of the bed.

She heard the bathroom door open behind her and turned to see a very wet, very hot Shade standing behind her. She turned instantly crimson, and spun around, clapping her hands over her nose and mouth.

She heard him laugh from behind her. He walked over to her, leaning his arms on her shoulders.

“I’m thinking...I’ll be needing that shirt.”

Shira instantly grabbed the bag and went into the bathroom. She quickly changed into the black set and came back out, shoving the clothes belonging to Shade into his hands. He laughed, leaning back lightly. She spun on her heel, back into the bathroom, and closed the door, leaning against it.

“It’s safe now,” she heard him say a few minutes later. She slowly opened the door, coming out. Shade was sitting on the bed, wearing the clothes she previously had been minus the belt, and was looking at her through his dark hair, which was hanging around his face.

Shira slowly walked over to him, standing at the edge of the bed. He rolled his eyes and his hands shot out quickly, grabbing her and pulling her onto his chest. She struggled for a moment before giving up, letting him hold her.

“You should start learning to trust me,” he whispered in her ear. He then snapped, and the lights clicked off. “It’s about eight, but I’m tired.”

She nodded, realized he couldn’t see it, but still didn’t say anything. The mix between the heat of Shade’s body and the dark of the large bedroom made her drift off to sleep.
