As my anchor, you push me down as far as you can
Not letting me breathe as long as I ran
Which I often, if not always, dream of doing
If anything, you are just intruding
On my life, you set out to ruin
Unto my weakness, you never give in
You weight me down until I am to the bottom
Back into your arms you beg me to come
Giving you the perfect opportunity to criticize me more
Jumping to hurt me just like every time before
Yet, me, still stuck under your rusty steel of a tool
Asking myself how I could possibly be such a fool
To actually think you could change
But it was me that got caught in your maze
But when I start to swim to the top of the water
And see the glare of the sun’s color
When I’ve found something of worth, something better
You tease me but tug on the chain right after
Acting as though I’m your machine to fine tune
I’m going to drown soon
