Royo Contarnay Disploa
Chapter I

“Okay, that’s all for today. Ryuu, see me please” exclaimed the instructor. I steadily walked to the instructor, and tapped him on the shoulder. At first he jumped, but then realized it was me and began “Aaah, yes, Ryuu. First of all I would like to complement your swordwork. You have been working nonstop, it seems, to improve. And you have done just that! I have organzied your promotion ceremony for next week!”
Startled from what he had said, I had to make sure…

“My promotion….ceremony…? You can’t be serious…I’m going to become an Rultarian solder?”

After being given the details of my promotion, I gracefully accepted. I would be able to fight for my country, finally! Rultar had been in an ongoing war with our neighbours Szhil for years and I knew I would make a difference, given the chance. At first my parents denied the idea, but I eventually persuaded them and here I was, a few months after…about to help Rultar rightfully to victory. As I merrily strolled out of training camp, I heard a familiar voice from behind a tree. I looked to see a shaded figure, a figure which I recognized.

“So….how’d it go Ryuu?” the figure repeated, as I failed to answer at first.

“It went great, Altak. How have you been?” I replied, as Altak, my old friend stepped out of the shadows. His long black hair almost covered his mouth as he answered

“All is good, my friend.”

On my journey home from camp, Altak told me how he had seen his brother killed by the Szhilians. Altak had risen through the ranks, after being promoted weeks after joining training camp. He was a Rultar Sergeant, aswell as being a Rultarian hero, assassinating Prince Goron of Szhil. Since then he had been removed from action, and kept in hiding by King Fedtz. As we were catching up, we heard something in one of the many bushes surrounding the area. I was extremely cautious walking with Altak, with a massive Szhil price on his head. I reacted badly to the noise and called out anyone that may’ve been there. I took my sword out of the scabbard and stood still, calling anybody out once more. I soon found out how foolish I had been as around 20 ninja-like figures jumped out and surrounded myself and Altak.

“Stay out of my way” Altak whispered in my ear.

“Royo Contarnay Disploa!” he yelled, as 50 or so minions ascended through the ground. It became a battle in which I had no involvement. Altak told me

“Run home, mention this to no-one. I will go into hiding once more after I have finished here.”

I had just got home when I saw my father run out the door, questioning me.

“Where the hell have you been? We’ve been waiting for you.” I told them all about my promotion, making it seem as if that was the reason why I was late. The mood in the house changed as my mother prepared a little celebration. My father kept saying things like

“Oh, how your grandfather would’ve been so proud” and, he kept mentioning a man named Saokalt. I thought nothing of it, but it was Saokalt who would impact my life like no-one before.
