I Can Still Love You Even With The Miles
© Rachel G.
I can still love you
Even with the miles between us.
Hours, minutes, seconds do not stop me,
They do not control my feelings for you.
Would you stop, just for a minute,
To listen to this; I’m going to only say this once
And never say it again unless you come back home soon.
This isn’t some clichéd romance movie,
Simply someone saying I love you with some words
And never looking back with a second thought.
I know saying goodbye isn’t easy,
Can’t you see it in my own eyes that I’m fighting it?
Would you stay, if I could offer you things that you need?
I know it’s not my fault, but I can’t help but
Feel helplessness, it’s like I cannot do a damned thing to help.
Would you write me? Request love songs from the radio
And dedicate them to the woman sitting back at her house,
Waiting for you?
Would you call me in the middle of the night
Just to say I love you, and to hear my voice?
This isn’t some clichéd poem written with fake words.
It’s written from deep inside. Would you take it with you
To remind you of the girl you’re leaving behind?
You’re my foundation, I’ll eventually start to crack away,
So would you hold me in your arms before you walk out of my life?
There’s so many things I need;
Companionship, you’re my better half.
The love and time you give; you’re the drug I need.
I must say, that I’m afraid.
Would you forget me when you go away?
Am I fickle? The someone you needed for a few nights?
Will you wait, just like I am doing right now?
Or, would you move on so quickly with me mopping up tears?
I can still love you
Even with miles and hours separating us.
But tell me,
Are you willing to do the same thing?
