Yoko: This poem is based on a completely real part of my life, and means a lot to me. It's self-explanatory, so I won't go into it. Constructive criticism much appreciated.
Hello Daddy
Hello Daddy, I'm new to the world,
It's nice to finally meet you.
I hope we'll be the best of friends,
Can't wait to see the things we'll do.
Hello Daddy, I'm two now,
I've already taken my first steps.
Next I'll learn to talk somehow,
So I can say "I love you."
Hello Daddy, I'm six and confused,
Where on Earth have you been?
You promised you'd call, like the other times,
But there're none between now and then.
Hello Daddy, now I'm ten
And I've seen nothing of you.
I'm still waiting for your call,
But Mommy's bid you adieu.
Hello Father, I'm fifteen,
And I know now you'll never call.
My waiting's over for now and ever,
And without you I'm standing tall.
Goodbye Father, I'm seventeen and proud,
You've been dead to me for years.
I promise if I ever see you again,
My eyes will shed no tears.
