Fury fades

leaving traces of

sickening comprehension

mingled unwillingly with pity.

How can you live with yourself?

You are so immature;

so naive.

And where love should nest

there only remains harsh criticism.

Etched permanently

in your solemn profile

are deep lines of hatred.

Cause? Rejection.

I’ve never glimpsed this side

and now I understand why

I never longed to.

Let these horrid images cease,

because I could never

fathom their meaning.
