It was the three year anniversary of the South Valley High shooting - a total of nine deaths, and one injury. Every year there would be a memorial for others to commemorate those who did not make it. The South Valley High students that were involved with the very action attended each year, mourning among the other groups of students and adults for the loss of their loved ones, friends, and acquaintances.
Bridget stood within the crowd, holding in her tears. Even after three years she couldn't handle what she had witnessed and experienced. Kayla sat in her wheelchair, unable to walk unless taken serious action - which she wasn't ready for - holding Courtney's right hand. On Courtney's left hand, she held the hand of her two year old daughter, Deryan. Though she possessed some of Jacob's features, she decided "pro-life" because she thought Deryan needed a chance to live, much like her high school friend who had lost her life in the school shooting.
Jake, Melissa and Derek stood by Alexandra's memorial, leaving flowers and sad smiles. Behind them were Krisalyn, discreetly holding Jake's hand. Mike and Katelyn, who were lucky enough not to lose each other, stood side by side, watching Nick, who they had gotten quite close to during the entire escapade, leave a lemon scented sun orchid by Cassidy's memorial.
Sighing, Bridget stepped back and stared at the picture of Ryan. She cracked a small smile. "I should've gone on that stupid date with him..."
"Why?" Nick asked, coming from behind her.
"Everyone needs a chance in life, don't they?"
That was, indeed, the end of the story. Thanks sososooo much to everyone who has r&r'd.
I don't think this story would be any good without the support. (:
Hopefully, when I have a lot of time on my hands, I'll be able to revamp this and "fatten it up" as UtterChaos had suggested. :D
But yes, thank you guys. It means a lot. It's probably the first actual fiction I've ever finished. Haha.
