Em- Im taking you with me when I go..

Off to Join the World.

07/19/07

She’s tired of living this life,

this ever never ending, precarious

balancing act she’s grown accustomed too.

She’s not a child anymore,

she doesn’t want to perch herself

upon the teeter totter with you forever,

just watching life play out

in wonderful strands beneath her.

The merry go round calls to her,

its spinning color and echoing laughter

like home to her forlorn broken eyes,

yes that’s the world she wants to be part of,

not the this rubber padded cage you’ve trapped her in.

Its not welcome, or warm,

exciting, or amusing here,

she cant feel anything, don’t you get it,

she wants off this ride.

The cold steel of the high rings

begs her to take that leap of faith,

to let her toes leave the ledge

and swing of her own accord.

And she knows that this dream,

will lead her away from here,

away from the familiarity of home,

and hope, and grace.

But maybe that’s exactly what

this little girl needs,

too see the grass stains,

as they cover her favorite white dress,

the one you bleached so many times,

out of embarrassment of the sin that laced it,

Or feel the suns warming kiss,

grazing across her skin

as she runs recklessly through a field of daisies.

She’s sorry, but this isn’t okay anymore,

The suffocation, the lonely isolation.

Its just not who she wants to be.

So don’t cry for her mama,

She’s off to join the world.
