She stands like a dancer

Fighting gravity

Lips kissing the smooth window pane

Inhaling the warm scent

She stands still.

Crouched behind the hands she doesn’t dare

To reach beyond the shadow of the house,

She steals the wind, wide eyed.

She watches the calm lights in the roads

As they accelerate, streaming into the city,

With a rush of silence

And the conspicuous absence of noise

She holds every muscle

And wishes to be

Marble.
