Haaa…I felt like writing another for a while, just to take a break from my other story. I’m sorta suffering from an author’s block with it, although I know what to write and everything. Perhaps it’s just too much of the updating fever and then it comes back to bite me in the butt… But chyea, hope this story fairs well; I just wanted to do a change. Perhaps listening to all this MAXIMUM the Hormone, Dir en Grey, and GAZETTE will get rid of that block. Also been watching Death Note again… xDDD;;;

All the characters are original and the schools and places fictional… Well…not so much Okinawa and Tokyo… xD;;;

Story Title: SILLY-GO-ROUND!

Rating: T for slight violence and language

Summary: Wawatari Misa is your ordinary teenage girl – extremely short, hyperactive, and naïve. Okay, so she acts like a kid. And she gets in trouble for it at her new school. Will she make some friends or will the pressure make her move back to Okinawa?

Author’s Notes: I DO NOT SPEAK JAPANESE. So don’t expect it to be perfect, I will screw up often. So I apologize for any mistakes anyone seems to notice. I’m still doing research and might have to look over this story and revise it at some point of time…That’s all…

“Normally, we would’ve started you in at the beginning of the year, since orientation activities have ended for quite some time… But I suppose it is acceptable, since you’re coming in after June… But then you have summer break this following month… We’ll work out the problems later I suppose. Now, this way Wawatari-san – Wawatari-san?”

The woman speaking turned around to look for said girl, her bangs moving gracefully over her framed face. Her dark, chestnut hair was pulled up into a tight bun, neat like her suit coat and crisp pencil skirt. Her face was young, but was hidden by large glasses, making her seem a lot older than she really was and making it seem like she wasn’t much of an outgoing person. She only had to glance around herself twice before she saw where Wawatari had disappeared. She frowned as her dark eyes focused on the small girl whom was looking at a large room in a dreamy gaze. The woman walked back to the girl, her heels making soft sounds against the waxed floor although her movements were quick and tight.

“Wawatari-san, I would appreciate it if you would follow me to your class and not waste your time gazing at the cafeteria.”

“But Tsukiko-sensei,” the small girl murmured. “You have a floor made for dining! It’s filled with so many exquisite and foreign looking shops. You even have a whole side devoted to snack vendors!” The girl continued to look hungrily at the cafeteria, pressing her small nose to the window as she drooled in anticipation.

“Ah, well, you’ll have another time to tour the school. Right now, I need to be showing you to your class.” Wawatari looked disappointed but reluctantly peeled away from the cafeteria window and following Tsukiko’s side. Compared to this woman, the Wawatari girl was a complete dwarf. Even though this would be her first year in high school, she still looked like she was in elementary school. Her prepubescent face was still full and round; her lips automatically formed a pout, which went completely adorable with her large cherry blossom colored eyes. Her pink hair was even put into a childish hairstyle, only going to her shoulder while a clump of hair was pulled into a cutesy pigtail at the right side of her skull. Only three-foot-nine, the small girl would’ve been easily mistaken for a lost girl around the towering figures at the North Wing in Kagayaku Academy.

They walked up a few more flights, due to the elevators being out of order, Tsukiko continuing to tell Wawatari about Kagayaku’s history, how its students were either very talented or very rich to be able to enroll. Wawatari listened to every word, knowing exactly when to let out a noise of interest or gasp in a pleasant sensation of shock. Tsukiko, who had already thought this small girl was the exact definition of adorable, blushed scarlet at how Wawatari’s round face looked up at her innocently with great interest, her eyes sparkling with excitement. It took all of Tsukiko’s control not to grab the girl and just hug her. And thus, they continued to Wawatari’s future homeroom while they conversed about Kagayaku’s extracurricular activities, its dorm’s policy, and much, much more about the school Wawatari was supposed to know.

Finally, Tsukiko led Wawatari to a classroom with a sign saying ‘1-C’. Wawatari straightened her back and uniform hastily, making Tsukiko smile at how much Wawatari wanted to make a good impression. She patted the small girl’s shoulder before sliding the classroom door open and letting Wawatari walk in timidly. She stepped inside and saw an elderly woman reading from a book, whom paused in unison with the class to look up when small, little Wawatari walked in. Almost immediately did Wawatari feel twenty-five pairs of eyes focus on her. The students seemed to have been gaping at how tall she was, along with the incredulous belief that she was placed in this classroom. Others moved over to their neighbor and whispered into their ears whilst their eyes narrowed with curiosity or thoughts of this being some sort of mistake.

“Oh, class, we have a new student as of today. Please welcome Wawatari Misa, who has transferred all the way from Okinawa.” The elderly woman replied, writing Misa’s name on the corner of the black board while the student’s whispering grew louder.

“You can’t be serious, Hakasao-san! This girl looks like she should be in the West Wing with the elementary students!” A girl had spoken out. She was surrounded by girls who had obnoxious looks on their faces, sneering up at Misa and snickering behind their hands. The girl had an outraged look on her face, as if Misa’s presence in the class would belittle her status at this school.

“Shirai-san, please know your place. It’s unacceptable; I think you owe Wawatari-san an apology.”

Iie, it’s fine Hakasao-sensei! I’m sure Shirai-chan didn’t mean it!” Misa spoke hastily, still maintaining a sweet and childish voice. Some students murmured quietly to themselves with fine blushes forming on the tips of their noses.

Demo, it was still rude – ” The teacher tried to press on the subject but Misa simply shook her head, only tousling her pink hair into all directions, as she shot a sincere smile at the teacher. Like Tsukiko, Mrs. Hakasao blushed slightly at how sweetly Misa handled the situation. She coughed to regain her train of thought before speaking once more.

“Well, if you think so, Wawatari-san. Please, take the empty seat behind Wakaba-san and we’ll continue our lesson. Shirai-san, let this be a warning and let’s make sure this incident isn’t repeated…”

Misa smiled at the class again before she took the empty seat behind a boy with tanned skin and platinum blonde hair. Misa had never seen a ganguro before since most boys in Okinawa were slightly tan – except with dark hair. He smiled back serenely before turning back forward in his seat. It might’ve been a trick of the eyes, but Misa thought that the boy had been wearing a light shade of lip gloss…

Mrs. Hakasao continued on with the lesson, calling on students to stand in their place and continue to translate passages that were found in the lesson’s workbook. Misa doodled on the pages here and there as a girl stood up to read next. She noted that the girl wore thick, large glasses that covered most of her face with had short hair that went to the nape of her neck. Looking at this girl, Misa thought it might’ve been what Tsukiko looked like when she was younger. The girl stammered during her reading. Misa noticed that most people either buried their heads in their hands or looked overly bored as she read.

“That’s enough Issei-san,” Mrs. Hakasao said with a heavy sigh. “And please, work on your annunciation as you read.”

“H-Hai, Hakasao-san.” The girl named Issei sunk back into her seat, burying her nose into her workbook, a heavy blush forming on her ears quickly. Misa smiled a thought that Issei-chan seemed so cute when she was timid.

After analyzing Issei-chan, Misa looked back around the room. Her body scooted to the right so she could get a look at Shirai again. The stuck-up girl was extremely beautiful, with wavy locks of black hair framing her small face while her gorgeous eyes glimmered in the light, glowing along with her pale but shimmering skin. Misa sighed longingly for looks similar to that, since she was practically a flat board with a cute face. While Shirai had a perfect hourglass figure with a beautiful face, Misa only seemed like a cute child. In comparison, Shirai was a graceful butterfly as Misa was a small lady bug.

Time passed by quickly with break reeling around the corner, meaning that Misa could finally partake with the luxurious meals offered in the cafeteria the academy owned. When the bell chimed, Misa was first to bolt out to the door to in order to beat her classmates to the cafeteria. Her eyes glistened in pure bliss as she saw students everywhere dining on foreign cuisines on fine china, exotic aromas fuming everywhere. Even though Misa was about to faint from pure joy, she was able to maintain her self-control as she walked up to the lunch line with a meal ticket in hand...

Somehow, Misa had found herself on the roof of the academy, looking out at the sunny scenery and the dorms that surrounded the campus. She had been munching on anpan bun, since she was a simple girl that did not experience too many luxuries, while there was some yakitori was hiding in her briefcase. She didn’t notice when the door that led up to the roof opened with the figure that emerged from its depths approach her.

Oohayo, Wawatari-chan!” Misa jumped slightly, coughing as she choked on a piece of the bread she was swallowing. Instantly, the person that greeted her grabbed her by the stomach and proceeded in giving her the Heimlich maneuver. The food launched itself out of Misa’s small mouth over the building, hitting some poor teacher, who cried out in a mixture of anger and disgust.

Gomen nasai! Daijoubu?!” Misa recognized the voice to be Wakaba-kun, the ganguro boy that painted his lips a light color. She coughed for a few more moments before her rigid breathing returned to her normal, making Wakaba-kun relax in relief to know she was okay and he hadn’t killed her.

Arigato gozaimasu, Wakaba-kun!” Misa chirped happily, bowing to him in respect. Shocked, Wakaba jumped and blushed almost immediately, making Misa giggle softly before jumping up to pat his shoulder. Compared to Misa, he was a complete giant, since he was at least five-foot-ten and had a bit of muscle on him. He smiled at her and just ruffled her hair affectionately, making Misa chirp with laughter once more.

“Gomen, Wawatari-chan, I didn’t know you would be so shocked!” Wakaba laughed sheepishly, the blush on his nose and cheeks growing a little more as Misa looked up at him with her big innocent eyes.

“It’s okay, Wakaba-kun! And call me Misa-chan!” Misa smiled innocently at the tanned boy, being overly friendly since she wanted to make good friends quickly within this big school. Wakaba laughed at how straight-forward this little girl was since most girls at Kagayaku Academy only allowed the boys they liked to be on a first name basis. Misa just looked at him curiously as she followed him to the roof railing, having to climb up him awkwardly to sit upon the railing. Wakaba nearly fainted when he saw her sit on the edge of the railing carelessly, dead afraid that the girl would fall from the five-story building. She, however, just looked at him inquisitively as he practically foamed at the mouth just watching her sit there.

“Wa-Wawatari-chan! Get off quickly! You might fall off!” Wakaba backed away hastily from her, falling onto the floor as he grabbed the railing for dear life. It seemed to him that he was the one sitting over the edge of the roof, and that it was him who would fall to his death if he made a wrong move.

Doushite? You act like this is dangerous, Wakaba-kun. And it’s Misa-chan!”

“Alright Misa-chan and it is dangerous! You could fall and get hurt badly!”

Misa laughed at how paranoid Wakaba was and complied with him, flipping herself backward with a perfect landing, making Wakaba gape at her in astonishment. She simply smiled at him before helping him p to his feet, Wakaba’s mouth still agape at how easily Misa flipped while in danger of falling over the building.

“Wakaba-kun, you should close your mouth or a fly will go down your throat.” Misa simpered, leaning up to try and close his hanging jaw. Wakaba closed his mouth rigidly like he had come out of a trance, and stared at Misa in disbelief, the image of her flipping over still fresh in his mind.

“Wawatari-chan, you are definitely like no other girl I’ve ever met…” he choked out, bringing a hand to his temple to soothe the roaring headache that was caused from intense fear. Misa only pouted when he called her by her last name, her small bit of anger causing her to latch onto Wakaba while making swipes to grab his cheeks. He simply laughed before he set the pouting girl back on the ground. They made eye contact for a while, one smiling goofily while the other glowered, before they both started laughing to themselves.

From that point on they sat out on the roof, making sure to stay as far away as possible from the railings, and just talked about their lives including how they got to Kagayaku Academy. Misa found out that Wakaba’s mother was a foreigner but had died giving birth to him. He maintained his father’s looks but inherited his mother’s light hair. She felt sorry for him, but Wakaba just laughed and said it was okay, telling her that he still missed her but knew she was watching him.

“Wakaba-kun!” she cried, tears welling up in her bright eyes. “You’re so strong!” She latched onto his arm and wept for a few moments before Wakaba laughed nervously as he peeled Misa off of his arm.

They resumed talking about their lives before they came to Kagayaku; Misa learned that Wakaba swam a lot during the summer and was usually extremely tan when he came back to school. But in a matter of months, Wakaba would be back to being very light, which made Misa look amazedly at him with her large eyes. He also had gotten into Kagayaku because his father was a wealthy business man that was CEO of a successful corporation, so Wakaba was an average student with average grades.

“So, Misa-chan,” Wakaba beamed at Misa as he said this. “What was life back in Okinawa?”

Misa looked up at the sky as she tried up to summon up the memories she had back in Okinawa. It was completely different compared to Tokyo, since it was a very busy city with people moving in all directions – plus, there were hardly any trees in sight. In Okinawa, all there was were trees. It was normally sunny with the small of sea water wherever she turned. She found it soothing, often probing her parents to take her down to the coast to watch the sunset over the ocean horizon, casting a blood red color across the sea. Misa had a nostalgic smile form on her full lips and she looked up at the azure sky, making Wakaba tilt his head curiously at the thoughtful girl.

Wakaba was about to prod Misa onto telling him about Okinawa when the school bell chimed, the short song ringing around the school grounds and made the students who ventured onto the courts return back to the building. Misa perked at the sound of the bell, differing from Wakaba, whom sighed miserably at the thought of returning to class. While Wakaba took his sweet and delicate time getting up from the rooftop’s support, Misa bounced around giddily with a delighted look on her face.

“Wakaba-kun, hurry, hurry!” Misa bounced around in a hyperactive motion, making Wakaba see double.

“Relax! It’s only school! You’re like a freakin’ squirrel!” Wakaba chimed unenthusiastically but smile reluctantly at how Misa beamed at him.

“But Misa-chan is Misa-chan! I’m not a widdle squirrel!” She giggled happily before grabbing the cuff of Wakaba’s coat sleeve and they hastily ran though the door leading back to the fifth-floor, all along the way with Misa talking happily as Wakaba wondered if he was digging his own grave with this girl…

Misa gaped at the how tall this girl was, with her long black hair covering her forehead, while the remaining parts were tied into two pig-tails loosely over he shoulders. With her sinister appearance, she gave off a dark aura, making it seem like her hair were wriggling tentacles that latched onto the souls of children. Issei hunched behind her in fear, although Misa’s body was not built to be a shield. Then this horrible rasp escaped the girl’s throat, sending chills down both of the girls standing in the doorway, the ominous girl walking towards them with her arms outstretched…
