I hope this essay hopes other fans cope with Deathly Hallows and the end of the Harry Potter series.

More Left To Live For

With the recent release of Deathly Hallows, many Harry Potter fans may feel like theres nothing left. Some of us, have been reading the series since we were in grade school and seeing it end it like ending a part of our childhoods. We had a good run for many years, but now its over, right? No more book to countdown the day towards, no more re-reading in anticipation of what tiny detail in the second novel will reveal the key to the inner-workings of Voldemort's death. Theres a hole now. A gap where the continual anticipation for more Harry should be.

Never fear. Jo was looking out for us from the beginning.

The series may be over but the magic isn't. Harry Potter enchanted a generation, brought together families, united fans across seas and borders and re-introduced the beautiful art of the written word to a world stuck on microchips. The story of the Boy-Who-Lived taught hard work, discipline, hope, courage, team work, respect of elders, open mindedness and love to everyone from the tiniest of 9 year olds to the wisest of elders. No one was safe from Harry, so wide spread was the reach; and thus, the Chosen One can never leave us.

The lessons we were taught, the joys we earned from watching the characters grow, they will be with us forever. No one can take them away from us. Not I, not your mother, not Joanne Rowling herself. The magic in the series was far beyond the spells and enchantments cast from wizard to witch. The true magic was in us, the fans. The magic was in the emotion we invested into the characters, the time we logged reading, re-reading and speculating and the love we infused into the lessons we took from it. The story may be over but the magic is eternal. As long as one soul remembers the light in a child's eyes upon watching Luna walk to the beat of her own drum, as long as one heart remembers the lesson of good over evil, then we fans have nothing to fear by the end. For the end is simply a new beginning.

There are still worlds left open to us. The writers of fan fiction can now reach into the past and show the depth of each characters soul. Words can speculate the possibilities of a different world if Harry had simply taken one different step and can explore the new world Harry and his generation created for all beings; magical and muggle alike. Artists can draw the emotion that Jo so wonderfully portrays and show us scenes from different characters perspectives, not shown in the Harry dominated books. Theorists can explore the workings of the new magical world and expand on the past events that played key roles in end. The options are wide open to us, as long as we don't give up hope.

So never fear my fellow Harry Potter fans, there is more left to live for. No stone will be left unturned, no theory left unchecked, as long as Harry exists. While Jo may have ended the main adventure, it is up to us to continue the magic. In our hearts, in our minds, our words, our pens, our souls, Harry will never die.
