I couldnt love you

but how I hard I tried

and the day they found your body

in the river, i tried to cry

all those days we sat inside your house

the radio on, touching your mouth

I spent two summers standing by the water

Dodging your splashing, taking your attention

Knee deep, your arms outstretched

I wasted your time, you made me happy

If i grow old Im not rubbing it in your face

When i smile it wont be at your expense

We were friends, why can't i cry?
