It rained heavily the other night
Every soul ran away
To the warmth of the golden fires
To the comfort of the loving shoulders
She sat on her window
Sheltered from the rain
Yet the tears on her cheeks
Glittered as lightning broke the night
Those tears once hidden behind the eyes
Behind the grins
Behind the smiles
They always ran for a shelter
Looked for a warming fire
Or maybe a loving shoulder
When they found none
On her cheeks they found a welcoming home
Maybe it wasn’t the place those painful tears once roamed
But that is what they could find
And settling is sometimes a part of life.
Then rain stopped outside
And giggles of the world started to arise
Yet the pain within her kept raining down
Unlike the one from the sky;
A welcoming home, it never found
The lonely pain is now sealed in her skin
Though unbearable
She wasn't surprised
How days never stopped stabbing her wounds
Because to find a place to lay her head and rest
That poor girl never assumed!
