A/N: I know the first few chapters (and possibly all of the chapters) are sort of short, but I am hoping that I will be able to update very regularly, like every day or two. Hope you like the story!

“I’m so over this Patrick! Why can’t we ever act like a normal couple anymore?” Lexy shouted over her tears.

“You’re seriously going to throw away the last three years because we can’t go to the movies or to school dances? I’m so sorry that I’ve been too busy taking you to award shows and industry parties!” Patrick yelled back across the hotel room. He was on the verge of tears (just like every time he and Lexy broke up) but would never cry in front of her.

“Maybe I’m tired of the stress that always surrounds award shows and the fakeness of industry parties or having to share you with the world! And maybe I’m tired of you spending more time on our dates trying to impress the rest of the world or schmooze with the record executives or the reporters than you spend actually looking at me! I’m just done with it Patrick! I’m not just throwing away three years of my life! I will always love our time together, but I just can’t keep doing this! You’re the one who wanted to be a rock star, not me! I never asked for this life!” Lexy reminded him loudly and angrily.

“That may be Lexy! But you knew I wanted this life since you met me in the first grade and you still chose me! So yeah, you still chose this lifestyle too!” Patrick countered.

“No! All I wanted was a normal relationship with the boy I’ve always loved! How was I supposed to know that you would turn out to be one of the biggest effing heartthrobs in the music business? I want a boyfriend who can take me to my prom. I want a boyfriend who can go out to dinner with me. I want a boyfriend who isn’t constantly getting fan mail with marriage proposals! But that isn’t you anymore. So I’m done! I’m over this!” Lexy screamed as she stormed out of the hotel room.

Patrick fell backwards onto this bed with a sigh and covered his tear-streaked face in his hands. How could Lexy just walk away from all that they had? Why couldn’t love just be enough for once? Why couldn’t he make her see how much she meant to him? And why couldn’t she be happy ever that he was living his dream?

Lexy ran past the elevator and straight to the stairs. So what if it was twenty-two flights down to the ground floor? She needed to work out her frustrations anyway.

She had been with Patrick since she was fifteen. They had been in love since they had met in the first grade. But it was hard for Lexy to share Patrick with the whole world sometimes. They had broken up countless times before (never for more than a few days) because of the hardships that go along with a rock star boyfriend. But Lexy had been so tired of the fights for so long that fighting over her prom was pushing her over the edge emotionally. She was drained and unsure that they would work things out this time.

Patrick spent the night of Lexy’s junior prom playing a televised concert from Japan. Lexy spent the night of her junior prom sitting on her bed in her prom dress watching Patrick play a televised concert from Japan and eating an un-Godly amount of Ben and Jerry’s Cherry Garcia ice cream. Patrick knew how much it had hurt Lexy—a very social butterfly—to miss the dance and had promised to make it up to her for her senior prom. It was just under her wedding day in the order of important days in Lexy’s life.

But Lexy’s prom was fast approaching and Patrick had yet to talk to Lexy about his plans for the night. That is, they hadn’t discussed the plans until that morning with Patrick told her that his band Rebel would be playing a charity festival in the UK the night of the dance. He would miss that prom too. He would break yet another promise.
