Mind Games

Chapter Three-

“You again.” Catty said as she stared into the baby blue eyes of the flirty Hunter.

“Are you okay?” he asked as he took her hand down from he nose.

“I'm fine.” she replied and tried to head for her next hour before she was late. He grabbed her sleeve and pulled her back effortlessly. “Come one, I'm going to be late.” she gritted, trying to break free. She looked up at the digital clock, only one minute left. I wonder if I could blame my locker on this? It is sticking pretty bad. The bell rang, deafening loud, shattering her ears. After a year and half it still made her ears bleed. She grunted, now she was late. “Now I'm late! You happy now?” she barked at him.

“Very.” he said pulling her in close to him. She could smell his cologne and spearmint fresh breath. He hair tickled her face. “Aren't you?” he whispered into her ear and tightening his grip around her waist.

“Back off jo-” was all she got out before he kissed her. Shitzu! She just stood there in total shock. After he pulled away he ran his fingers though her hair, his forehead still on hers.

“See, that wasn't so bad.” he softly cooed to her. See how bad this is jock boy! Catty brought her knee up full force. Hunter yelped and fell to the ground with his hands between his legs. All of a sudden Mrs. Corange walked around the corner, she was Catty's science teacher.

“What is going on here?” she demanded. Catty just stared at her. Hunter was still on the ground moaning in pain. “What is going on here?” she re-demanded. Catty sighed and shook her head.

“Okay, here it goes. He was flirting with me in second hour. Then I went to my locker for my third hour things. Needless to say, O got up and ran right into him. After that, I tried to go to my third hour, but he wouldn't let me go. Then after that he kissed me, in return I kicked him in the groin because this whole flirty datey kissey thing was a bet with his jock friends because he got his as-, excuse me, butt kicked in a fist fight. Okay?” Mrs. Corange stared at Catty while she tried to process the whole batch of information Catty just shoved in her face.

“Okay, you know what? Just go down to the office!” Mrs. Corange nearly yelled. “Are you okay to walk Hunter?” she asked after seeing Hunter struggle to get up. Catty gave a sigh of defeat an clicked her tongue.

“Okay then.” she walked down the silent hall with the sight of the office in sight. She heard Hunter grunt and groan in pain as she tired to make it to the office. Well, maybe next time he'll think twice. Probably not though. She sighed and stepped into the office, a cool rush of hair hit her face. She plopped down on the seat closest to the entrance door. Mr. Dreal, the assistant principle, stepped out of his office when he heard the unique sound of the thump against the wall. A small grin came across his face when he saw her.

“In trouble again now are we Miss Catty?” he asked.

“Yes, we are Mr. Dreal. I got into a conflict and a teacher did not like the way I handled it. The same as it always it.” Catty replied as she stood up.

“Can we just get this over with?” Hunter asked, able to walk mostly up right.

“I take it he's with you?” Mr. Dreal asked Catty.

“Wow, your good. You must me psychic.” Catty remarked sarcastically, walking into Mr. Dreal's office and setting down into the chair closest by the door. She looked around, there were several fountains with running water. Many Chinese sayings and symbols scattered across the walls. Along with many landscape paintings. She sighed, “Another day, another punishment.”

“Yes, well, that may be true in your case, but down to business.” Mr. Dreal took out and pencil and a pad of paper. “Now, what happened?”

“Here's the deal. He was flirting with me I second hour. I went to my locker for third hour. I stood up and needless to say, ran into him. I apologized and tried to go on my way. He wouldn't let go of my shirt and pulled my close and then started talking romance. Then he kissed me on the lips. I kneed him in the groin and then Mrs. Corange walked into the picture and sent us down here. End of story.” Catty gasped for air after talking so fast. Mr. Deal acted like Mrs. Corange did, just stare in shock. Catty was not known for being into romance to much, in fact, not at all. This was whole new territory.

“Oh, and by the way, this is some sick bet by him and his jock friends.” Catty poked in. Mr. Dreal sat there looking back from Catty to Hunter, trying to picture it.

“He kissed you?” he asked, his voice told of shock. Catty nodded. Mr. Dreal cleared his throat and turned his attention to Hunter. “Okay, um, Hunter, what do you have to say about this?”

Hunter tried to lean forward, but Catty had kneed him to hard. So he had to lean back in his seat. “Ugh, man! Can't we just go back to class? This isn't a huge deal!”

“I take that as a confession. I'm going to let you two off with a warning, but to follow procedure I'm going to check the security cameras. Be right back.” Mr. Dreal left the room, trying to rid himself of the shock. Catty sunk back in her seat, he anger subsiding.

“So, how did you know?” About the bet I mean.” Hunter asked, looking straight into Catty's eyes.

“What do you mean?” she asked right back.

“How did you know?” he asked again, his curiosity aroused.

“News travels fast around here, even private news. I heard my name in it so I listened.” Catty replied, and her focus somewhere else besides his gorgeous baby blue eyes. Moron, only Vanessa knows my secret. My parent's just got used to the fuzzy feelings in their head.

“Why do I have to oddest feeling that isn't true?” she asked, reaching for her hand. “Share with me, share with Hunter.”

“Believe it or not. Your choice.” she replied simple, pulling her hand away. The bell rang, but you could hardly hear it though the thick walls of the office, but it was still enough to make her twitch. Mr. Dreal walked back in with an exhausted look on his face.

“All right, back to class. Y'all are both tardy now. No else heard the first bell either.” Mr. Dreal's Texas accent came out. Catty nodded and stood up, trying to get out of the office as soon as she could, and as far away from Hunter as humanly possible in this school.

The halls were deserted, the school was surreal. She crouched down to her locker and began picking up her things, setting them neatly in a pile next to her locker. The swift muscle memory action on opening her locker took place. Her fourth hour materials came out and third went back in. She sat there for a minute, absorbing the deafening silence. There was no one there but her. She sighed a breath of relief, her body relaxed. The clock read that the first ten minutes of class were already over.

“Better get to class.” she muttered to herself. She preformed the two digits ritual and headed off to class. She raised her head when she saw two feet other than hers, who just happened to belong to Hunter. “What do you want? Want me to knee you in the groin again?”

He handed her a tardy slip with her name name on it and said, “Here, Mr. Dreal told me to give this to you.” He bent down and kissed her on the cheek. “That one's free.” He walked off with the jock attitude in mind. His body language said it all.

“Jocks.” Catty said to herself with disgust. “It's the reason people like me need medication.”
