I read the words that
drip so effortlessly
from your blood red
tongue
stained by the cherry popsicle
you took from my cheap
freezer
you didn’t ask
because you never do
and I don’t care
because I don’t like them anyways
your sea green eyes
dart out the window
and I know your
watching for him
through the rays of
twilight
but I don’t say a
word
and my bare lips stay
sealed
like they always do
around you lately
your thinking hard and
I get bored of watching you
so I get up and walk
out the door
and you don’t ask
where I’m going
because you’ve been
alone before
I lay in the strip of
overgrown grass outside
and watch the stars
come out
wishing I knew they’re
names
I fall asleep before
the moon rises and only wake
when I hear your car
start and drive away
mosquitoes hover above
my body
and I feel they’re
stingers pierce my skin
but I don’t bother to
shoo them
(or even go inside at
all)
