Tears of fowl blood rush down her raw face from all the tears she cried that day. Her one loved had been banished away form her life, and here she must pay the price. She was charged for helping him escape and now is being sent up theses stairs to her demise. Chained with thorns that bleed her small wrist, she and the man who would lead her to the executer slowly glide up ward, while she hummed a soft Lullaby her deceased mother once singed when her mind was troubled about things.
-Flashback-
"Lumen were are we going?" The girls face was held wonderment as she and a boy named Lumen crossed streams within the forest that the girl's family city was built in. At the time they were curious to know what lied beyond the city, and made a deal ever night they come here but at the moment, Lumen was on to something "Abigail trust me, everything is going to be alright."
Without a second thought Abigail nodded her head in understanding, making Lumen smile as they walked deeper into the forest. Knowing if their family had ever found them together both would be hanged for their tertiary.
-End of Flashback-
The women sighed at the bittersweet memory, thinking over every detail to the last drop of life within her. Callous clouds loomed over her body, taunting her seeing she was on deaths foot steps now. Crows flock above, squawking from the roof top of the tower, almost whispering about them selves who might get the first piece of her when they had silences her.
The thorns dig deeper into her flesh as the man with the death cloth over his head pulled tighter to the vine. She bit her lip for the searing pain of the thorns, hoping not to make a sound. The man gave her a sneer at her position in which she was in and cackled as he dragged her further to her grave.
The blood drip like rain drops, creating a rhythm. She hated the sight of her own blood, for it was one of the main reasons she was here. Her own blood was why she was going to be killed for. How she wished to never have this but life wasn't fair, this she had learned. It was never fair to those who wish to survive, to those who had dreams. It always leaves one suffering but sadly she would suffer no more.
'If one must live another must die.' Words of her father rose within, snickering at her condition. 'This is for your betrayal my daughter, this is were it ends.'
The women cringed at the man's words that swarmed in her head, causing her to feel dizzy and weak. 'You were lucky to live to 17 child, If it weren't for your blasted mother I'd killed you sooner!' His laughter Was like a shrill of agonizing pain, hurting her, toying with her.
A shattered piece of memory seeped I her mind, making the outside would seem fogged and ominous looking. It was a memory she longed to forget, one she wished to take to the grave.
-Flashback-
"Look here child, do not play mind games with me." Her father, a plump, ugly man hissed in her face, somewhat spitting at her in sickness.
"You were the one who sent Lumen free weren't you!? Answer me!" Abigail remained emotionless, barely even blinking at the man's hollers. A women around the same age chuckled at the mans futile attempts.
"Father please doesn't waste your time on my dear sister . When she's ready to say the truth she'll spit it out." The women look exactly like the Abigail, both with fine, long honey hair and chestnut eyes. The only thing was different was Abigail was much slimmer than her sister Abele and held a crest birth mark upon her shoulder. Another way you could tell them apart was by Abigail's sweet nature she took after her mother while Abele was more like her father, uncaring and clever.
"Ah my sweet Abele, do not talk so highly of your sister. She is not worth you kindness ." Her father explained in a caring tone, one that was never directed to Abigail since she was born. "Do not worry father, I know she's not worth it but she is my Baby sister ." When Abele spoke she sounded soft and gentle, but whenever she said sister or Abigail it would drip from her lips in hatred.
Abigail could only sit in silence as the two chatted amongst them selves, whispering about her. "Abele it looks as though I must take this a step further, must we show your sister her dear Lumen.?" The father rose his voice so Abigail could over hear, and as expected, stood shocked. "Ah so you heard eh? Your dear Lumen has been found child." Abigail couldn't breath, she felt jolts of pain fill her heart as salty tears flowed down her cheeks.
"Is..Is Lumen-" "Yes child. He is dead . Dead and gone." Abigail's body shook in hysteria, not understanding anything now. Her chestnut eyes grew dull while her body gave way to meet the Victorian carpet of her father's studies. She could sense her sister from behind, sneering down at her as she wailed uncontrollably. "You should have suspected he'd would have been killed when he was found. Too bad you too never got to marry in secret like you both hoped you would." A sudden burst of merciless laugh erupted form his throat, mocking the shocked Abigail.
"You..you knew about this? " She gasped lowly, barely catching the man's hearing. "Yes of course I knew you stupid child! I was the one who told the town about his 'betrayal' as you say."
Once again he laughed, coughing from his nasty sense of humor. Just like a little light had gone off within her head, Abigail rose to her feet, perplexed. "Wait..he never betrayed anyone?" Abigail asked the hysterical man as he chuckled out a few more words. "No no that bloody man asked me if he could marry you and knowing who family he belonged to I turned my back on the idea. So I made that whole u betrayal /u thing up to the town."
The room grew quiet, making Abele sigh at her father's stupidity. "You..You..You lied to them!?" Abigail shirked out, her confusion wiped out from her emotions, replacing it with anger. "You don't understand-" "I understand plenty father! You killed an innocent man over something so moronic as well told the town of the forged betrayed! You are not even a man, you a lying monster who cares only about his money!" Abigail bellowed as she continued her onslaught of glares and remarks.
"I'd wish you were h'll" Abigail finished, liking nothing more then to she this thing go to the fiery pits, forever to suffer for his actions. "I wish you to H'LL!" She shrilled out as she tried to charged at him but was held back by a guard. She tried kicking and clawing toward his face but to no prevail. The father shivered at his daughter's behavior, seeing she had every intent to murder him.
"Take this girl away" Her father declared as the guard took Abigail away, were she awaited trial and only found that she was to be blamed for Lumen's escape and murder.
-End of Flashback-
Suddenly the man before her stopped, causing her to look up from her state. "We are here." The man uttered, his voice rough and tired from all the climbing of the stairs.
"Get in" with that he shoved her inside the room, not knowing what lied inside. She opened her eyes to spot a man next to the window, sharpening a blade as he hummed some unknown melody.
She saw the stool were they hack the heads of many off, which made her shook at the grim though of her head being sliced could see her reflection within the dagger, smiling at her hungrily as the dulled points became fine. Sparks flew from the metal, clashing down the stone floor, cackling as though laughing at her. Finally she saw the executer stand up, showing he was ready to take her life.
He never spoke but he did signal me to sit down and place her head upon the stool. Praying one last time, she knew this would be her last breath. Humanity was something far belong her reach just like her dreams as for she would be sent somewhere that only god knows were she would go. Kneeling down before the stool, she witness the clouds from the window begin to circle about them selves, as though they were chanting something.
With one final breath, she watch as the man through the dagger into the air. In a swift motion the blade came down. It was all in slow motion to her, for she knew her life would never see this place again. It was an inner release you could say, to finally die and never suffer again. With her last breath she could feel the wind around her as her eyes grew heavy.
Without knowing it, the lights grew dark as she heard the swift chop of the blade, ending ever thing in her life. Knowing Lumen would be waiting for her.
"So she's dead eh? Wonderful!" Abigail's father exclaimed, happy to gotten ride of the bacteria. "Well then I must see this!" He stated as both him and the guard traveled to the tower in which she was slain. He was cheering inside for little did anyone know if she had lived and married Lumen they would have ruled the city in which he was in charge off. But since both were dead his other daughter Abele would rule in his place after his passing. 'Everything goes my way.' he whispered within his mind, congratulating himself on his success.
When they arrived at the tower door, he had a wide grin plastered upon his face. The guard opened the door to reveal a women's body upon the stool, her head slivered off but they couldnt see her face. Her shoulders were bear for she wore a dress hat went to the sides of her arms, so they could see her crescent birth mark. "Not so talkative now eh?" the father declared, laughing at his childs death.
He went over to see her head that was covered by a bag, which caused him to become even more thrilled. He continued to walk around the corpse until he spot a letter on the floor. Picking up the letter, he carefully tore it open. His once smirking face fell into a distressed and shocked one. Dropping the letter, he raced over to his daughter, turning her body over to look at her shoulders. He began to wail as he saw something that should have been there but wasn't.
The guard just stood there, bewildered by the mans actions. First he wanted her dead and now he was wailing over her? Seeing the letter his lord had read, the guard walks over and bends down, picking the note up.
Dear Lex Thorn.
I am here to inform you that I have executed a daughter of yours, but not the one in which you wanted dead. If you do not understand what I am telling you, look at her shoulder, you'll see that something is missing.
Sincerely you son-in-law,
Lumen wood.
