Weaver of Legends
”If you walk in the forest
On dark autumn night
And see through the darkness
That shimmering light
You think what it could be
A nightmare or true?
For you never can see me
But I’ll give you a clue:
Out of the darkness
There’s a form of a dream
A nightmare that’s restless
Or so it might seem
I came from the shadows
Was born of the light
With my wings I then rose
To the skies in the night
I play with my pipes
And I sing you my tune
I’ll win all my fights
Then hide in the moon
I ride on a white hare
Fly with a swan
To my ever-dark lair
Where I am the one
To laugh in the woodlands
And dance with my song
I’ll raise then my hands
And my magic so strong
A spell I will weave
From the rays of a star
My nest I will leave
And fly then afar
For I am the dweller
Of earth and of tales
Fairy-song’s singer
A dragon folk’s scales
From me do they rise
All the legends there is
So look in my eyes
And I’ll tell you this:
I am the mother
Of all you can hear
Poetry’s father
And tales you may fear
In stories and singing
My life can be seen
When bells they are ringing
My delight they mean
But what I’m inside
That you never can learn
If you don’t look behind
And my gift you don’t earn
So write you a song
Of a unicorn’s dream
Or tell a tale long
In which legends are seen
You still cannot see me
But you’ll finally know
That the light you did see
Forever will glow
So there in the forest
On dark autumn night
I dance in the darkness
And sing in the light
And then – if you see me
I’ll promise you so
You’ll never forget me
Or dreams I do grow
For the moment your eyes
Are laid upon me
All my disguise
Will vanish and see:
My voice is the singing
The stories my life
Forever I’m playing
My pipes in the night.”
