The wind blew through the forest, fallen leaves floating through the air. Gray clouds filled the sky, as birds flew to shelter. The chirped loudly, as if they were warning other birds or animals that the storm was coming. The wind carried a voice, as if it were a woman screaming.

A boy, the age of seventeen, leaned against a tree, holding a tiny fox in his arms. Its left hind leg had bloody gauze on it. The boy scratched behind its ears, as static filled his ears. He pressed one of his fingers into his right ear, pressing on the ear bud. "Xynos, get to work. You don't have much time till the storm starts. According to our radar, the target is in a cave one mile north from your current position. Hurry it up." The voice was low and raspy, but caring at the same time.

"Yes sir." Xynos softly spoke into the microphone hanging in front of his mouth that connected to the ear bud. He removed his finger and used his right hand to push off the ground, holding the injured fox with his left. He brushed off his pants, which were gray, baggy and covered in zippers.

The baby fox still stayed sleeping on his arm. A sheath and a broad sword hung on his back. The wind grew more violent, making his short, black hair fly in every direction. He walked slowly to his destination. He put his right arm under the baby fox, holding it with both arms.

Xynos had been walking for fifteen minutes before approaching the cave. He looked up into the sky and stared at the clouds. "I have about forty five minutes to complete this mission before heading back." He whispered to himself.

As the cave came closer, Xynos pulled an extra extension down for the bud. It stood next to his right eye, and stuck out somewhat. "Turning on microphone now. Lights on." He spoke with a little enthusiasm. The light on the extension illuminated the cave, making it easier to see inside the cave. He took off the messenger bag that hung at his side. He opened the bag, and placed the baby fox inside.

Xynos closed the bag, and walked into the cave. He pulled out his broad sword, holding it at the hilt with one hand. As he went deeper, the voice on the head set spoke quickly. "Xynos! It should be a few feet a head of you! Be careful. The readings I'm getting on this thing are abnormal. Proceed with caution."

The camera gave a feed back to where the man on the other end of the headset was. Xynos walked forward and heard a chirp. He stopped quickly and looked down quickly. A lizard stood in front of him. He backed up a little and looked closer. "Sir, how much more till the target?" He spoke quiet, but confusedly.

Xynos heard the man on the other end sigh and huff harshly. "Xynos… I'm afraid that is the target…" He spoke slowly; disbelieving this was the target that was so powerful. He bent over and picked the lizard up by its tail. He stood up straight and met the lizard eye to eye. It began chirping more and more.

An orb of blue light formed in its mouth. "Shit…" He said quickly under his breath. The light exploded and sent Xynos flying backwards, out of the cave. He landed on his back, and skidded across the ground. He heard the man on the other end, laughing hysterically.

"I guess that is our target!" The man spoke loudly, in between intakes of air. Xynos grumbled under his breath and stood up. He walked back into the cave and came across the lizard again. It was in the same spot as where he picked it up. He lifted up his boots and brought it down hard on it, squashing it instantly.

Xynos removed his boot and looked down at the lizard. Blood had exploded all over the ground; it's intestines snaking through a giant hole in it's stomach. "Mission complete, sir." He spoke quietly, turning around and exiting the cave.

"Good. Return to base." The man spoke quickly, as if he was in a rush. Xynos opened his bag and removed the baby fox. He put the bag around his shoulders and held the fox carefully. It was still quietly sleeping. He began to walk slow and remembered the storm. He picked up his pace as the storm approached closer.

Lightning lit the sky as thunder filled the air and Xynos' ears. Being careful not to drop the fox, he began dashing to the town. As he entered through the gates, he saw two of the scientists carrying a rod object.

Xynos followed behind them as they approached the lab. As the two entered the lab, he went off to the side. He walked through some bushes and moved for trees. The wind became fierce as rain started coming down. He came to a thick metal door. He grabbed the handles and pulled it open. He dashed inside, closing it tightly behind him.

There was a big metal door in front of him. It had a doorknob, but Xynos knew the trick. He slid his fingers under the door and lifted it up. He slid under, letting go of it. There was a big metal table with metal chairs, one each at each end of the table.

Xynos sat down in one and pulled out his earpiece. He set it on the table, along with the heavy-sleeping fox. He petted the fox carefully as he stared at its leg. There was another metal door in front if him. It opened quickly as a man walked in.

"Captain." Xynos stood up and saluted him quickly.

"Xynos, please, treat me like a regular person. I hate the respect you give me." The man rubbed the back of his head. He sat down in the vacant chair and grabbed the earpiece. He looked at the fox and pointed at it. "What is that doing here?"

Xynos panicked. "Sir, I found this baby fox in the forest with a broken leg. Its bone was sticking through the skin. I tranquilized it and wrapped the leg up to stop the bleeding. I was hoping we would be able to fix its leg…" He looked down at the floor, knowing the man wouldn't accept it.

The man stood up and picked up the fox carefully. "Alright." Xynos looked up at the man and smiled brightly.

"Really? You will?" Xynos had gotten excited. The man smiled back.

"Of course. You are the hardest worker out of everyone. You deserve it." The man turned towards the door and opened it slowly.

The room started flashing red. The alarm started going off, Xynos and the man looking at each other. A voice over the intercom spoke quickly. "We have a lab specimen out of control. Requesting all available hands immediately. Requesting all available hands immediately."

"Xynos, take care of it…" The man turned around and walked back through the door closing it. To the left of Xynos was another metal. He ran over to the door and opened it quickly, dashing up the stairs. He opened the door at the top of the stairs and began running to the specimen holding area.
