When they got to the Mall Jack and Robert got out and immediately headed to the GameStop to check out the new releases. Jack’s Mom said as the boys left for games “Jack meet Anna and I in the food court in three hours for dinner.”
Robert replied “We’ll be there, bye.”
Anna turned to Jack’s mom and said “so, where to first.”
She replied “We’re going to Sears, then Dillard’s, then to Macy’s. You’re going to get a good set of outfits while the boy’s are off looking for games.”
“This is going to be a fun day.” Anna said excitedly.
Jack and Robert were in the GameStop looking for new games when they saw it Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Jack knew that He had to get it for Anna.
Jack said “I have 60 dollars. You know Anna doesn’t have any Videogames so I’m going to get her one and it will be the best. So I get her Twilight Princess she’ll get into games as much as we are and make it more likely that she likes one of us.”
Robert exclaimed “Genius!”
Jack replied obviously full of him self, “Please, call me Jack.”
Robert gave him a dirty look, and said “But she doesn’t have a Wii so how will she play it.”
Jack said “she can use mine; her room did use to be my game room. So it only makes since that I leave that stuff in there for her to use, as well as to keep my room from being too cluttered.”
“Good Idea, Jack. That way you can get her into games and into our click at school so we will have a much better shot at a date with her.” Robert devised.
Unknown to the boy’s Jack’s mom was coming up with her own plan. She thought to herself “I need to get Anna something to do until school starts back after winter break. Oh, I know I’ll move all of Jack’s game systems into Anna’s room.”
Anna said “What are you thinking about,” to Jack’s mom.
To which she replied “Oh, just how to keep you entertained until school starts in January. I was thinking of giving you all of jack’s video game systems. What do you think?”
Anna stated “I don’t think that is right. We could just move them into my room so I can play them when ever, but I couldn’t take them from him. It wouldn’t be nice.”
Jack’s mom said “You have a lot to learn about boys.”
Jack and Robert were walking to EBgames When Robert saw a obstacle course set up outside. He turned to Jack and said “I think I just saw what I’m going to get Anna.”
Jack said “I thought we just got her a game.”
Robert replied “No, you just got a loan from me for 30 dollars and I am going to get her something else.”
Jack said “what?” but then he saw the obstacle course, offering a prize of one Wii for whoever can beat the entire thing. He turned to Robert and said “You can’t be thinking of entering that competition. No one has beaten it since the Mall put it up.”
Robert said “yeah, but we haven’t tried yet.” And with that went to the sign-up sheet.
Jack followed him to look at Robert’s competition. He looked down and saw that Robert had signed him up too. He turned to Robert and asked him “Why did you sign me up?”
Robert replied, “Just think of it as your loan is paid up.” Then he added “With no interest to boot.”
Jack said “I’ll get you back for this.” The boys then worked their way to the starting gate of the obstacle course. Jack cursing under his breath because the water underneath looked cold, he asked Jack “Please remind me. Why am I doing this?
Robert
replied “Because, you owe me 30 bucks and if you help me get Anna a
Wii then you don’t owe me the money anymore. Plus, it’s not like
it’s that hard, there’s not a time limit.
Jack said “yeah,
but we have to make it through some pretty hard obstacles. I mean
there’s the log jump, the curtain crawl, the cliff hanger, the
stairway to heaven (I’m kind of surprised they got away with that),
the zip line jump, the jungle tangle, and then there are a few places
where we’re going to have to wrestle some pretty large guys. It’s
not going to be a walk in the park.”
Robert said “Quit being a Negative Nancy, It’s not like we don’t have the skills.”
The person in charge of the course said “Are you two ready to take the challenge?”
Both Jack and Robert replied “yes.”
The man then said “the rules of the course are simple; you go one at a time the wrestling matches happen at random intervals and you can take multiple routes, but you will ultimately end up on top of the tower over there.” He then pointed at a tower that was about 100 yards away.
Jack turned to Robert and said “I’ll go first so you can’t rope me into doing anything else.”
Robert replied “fine, I’ll just have to figure out a different way of getting you to do my bidding, just get out there and beat this obstacle course.”
Jack said “Fine, but If I win I’m keeping the new Wii and giving the older one to Anna. Let’s just get this over with.” Jack stood up and went to the log jump starting line.
The guy in charge said “Ready, Set, Go!”
With The last word Jack was off. “The first task is an easy one. All I have to do is jump from each upright log to the next; they are secured so balance isn’t much of a concern. The major problem will be that each log sinks into the water slowly after having any weight put on it,” thought Jack. He started off by going very fast, giving the log almost no time to drop any. By the time he was on the twelfth and final log the first had only dropped a foot.
Next was a wrestling match against a man easily twice his size. Jack, Being a Black belt in jujitsu, had little problem defeating him. Jack just went up to him and punched him in his overly large gut and the guy passed out.
Then came the curtain crawl, Jack assessed “so, this is like climbing a curtain from one side to the other. I use to do this sort of stuff for fun. He grabbed onto the sheet and started to climb up to the top; he then climbed across the sheet and got to the other side fairly easily.
He then came to the Cliffhanger, it was two small ledges that had just enough to place three fingers and they were at different heights. Jack started out by putting his arms at 90 degree angles then slowly going across the ledge. He made it to the edge of the first level and to make it to the second level he had to raise himself two feet to make it. He let go with his right arm, it was closest, and went to grab the ledge and as he applied weight to it he slipped and was only able to keep a hold with one arm. He recouped and tried again and this time he was successful and made it to the other side.
