I’m suffocating
In this cage of glass;
I’ve lost sight of
The real world—
And I ache
To just breathe.

The world around me
Is constantly changing,
Constantly breaking,
Constantly dying.
But I’m untouched
By this little piece
Of humanity.

I’m suffocating
In this world of falsity—
I’ve lost sight
Of what’s right,
And I ache
To just scream.

The people around me
Are constantly dreaming,
Constantly talking,
Constantly living.
But I’m alone
In this little
Cage of glass.

I’m suffocating
In this place of dreams,
I’ve lost sight
Of what I’ve always wanted.
And I ache
To just remember
What I’ve lost.

The blood around me
Is unchanging,
Is undying,
Is unscreaming.

It comforts me...

Yet I’m still
In this gilded cage.
