Chapter 13: My Little Demon Boy
My younger version held up wild violets to my mothers face, trying to impress her but, to our dismay, she merely glanced away from them before engaging into another conversation with the duchess from the far west as she mutter "That's nice dear."
I sneered at mother as my disappointed self sadly nodded before racing back to Lee, whom also watched the sad exchange. Even back then, they treated me like dirt, even though I tried so hard to love them.
Glancing sadly, I remembered this memory so vividly that it pained me. It was the New Years ball if I remembered correctly. Light snow powdered parts of the land and had killed most of the flowers that have lived throughout the spring till fall. All that was left were that held vibrant color was just these bright, almost cheery violets that shimmered within the suns peeking face through the thick, low white clouds.
Losing myself within the sence, my eyes wondered from the party and slowly followed my younger self.
My little feet sink into the snow, as it grew thicker within the woods while I glided easily over it. As if I weighed like a mere feather. I knew exactly were my past self was heading towards. My body, memory, and spirit could feel the sensation it once felt as we walked deeper into the woods, climbing, and combing through tall hills and bushes that were slick from patches of solid ice.
It's been years, yet this memory always founds its own way to come back once in a while and memorize me.
The air grew colder as the wind weaved their tiny fingers through the thick trees, brushing gently against my revealed neck as I inwardly shiver. My little version could feel the coldness sweep in as she rubbed her bare shoulders, trying to keep warm within her little blue party dress that my parents made me wear.
Suddenly, as I had expected to happen, a small, but gentle tune filled the air. I remembered, when I was alone in my room, I find my self-humming this beautiful melody.
It was like all the snow beneath the ice had melted away, revealing fresh sunshine and new spring grass that had long been asleep revive once more. My heart fluttered as I lose myself within time, my body, and feeling as though I could sore high in the sky.
I watched my little self-stare in amazement, her tiny frame swaying a bit to the melody as she drifted farther into the forest, losing herself as she went along. It had been amount half an hour till the tantalizing melody came to an abrupt end, making my little version freed from her trance like state.
She heard rustlings within the bushes when she pushed past them, revealing the most gorgeous boy both nd I have ever seen. He stared directly at her past self, with hypnotic violet eyes that gleamed like dark, mischief amethysts. His raven black hair looked soft to the touch as it hung perfectly over his modest broad shoulders. My memory told me he was maybe ten as I looked over his glowing features. His face, just like the rest of his features, reminded me of an angle..or in his case, a dark angle.
I knew exactly what my younger self was thinking at the time. Something along the lines of how we envied his perfect hair, as well for his rare eye color that we had never seen before.
"Who are you?" My mini twin asked bravely, pushing back his beauty aside while looking at the boy with intrigued eyes as he stood there with a blank expression. Obviously the boy was non impressed with my past self's bravery.
"A demon." He said bluntly, avoiding his name as he watched my little face pale at first, yet the color revived with a pink flush.
"Well demon, I'm Kara Fang. What are you doing on my land?" I had a tendency to act exactly like my father, which meant a strong, over commanding jerk off.
"Your land?" I saw the boy raise a brow, but keep the rest of his face one blank puzzle, making it harder to read him.
"Yes. My mama and papa own this land." My little self said proudly. Sadly wouldn’t think so proudly of them in the near furute..or herself for that matter.
"No they don't." The handsome boy said bluntly, his blank stare nearly making holes within my self-confidence.
"Yes they do!" Mini me shouted back, glaring heatedly with a seething expression. Yes..even then I had anger issues.
"No. They. Don't. This here is the Prohibited Forest. What you’re talking about is a mile away." The boy sated calmly as though not effected with my outburst, one of his sender fingers pointing to the direction in which my past self had came.
"W-what?" My little me stuttered, one of her little hands tugging at her skirt as she gazed over the surroundings in wonderment. Ha! I forgot I had no clue to were I was going. No wonder I seem to end up in such gruesome situations, I’m probably one of the most clueless girls in the world.
"Looks like your lost." The boy said as he propped himself back onto the tree trunk, a hint of a smirk making its way to his lips, reminding of a very familiar man I knew and loathed.
"I can't be lost..I wasn't even walking that far! All I did was just follow the pretty tune.." I gave myself a pity glance, wondering how I even survived half my life if I just followed pretty tunes.
"What tune?" The stunning boy asked, slightly amused by my childish acts, probably also in the same vote on how I even endured the forest without a Lycan chewing me like some dog biscuit.
"You didn't hear it? It was around here some were until it stopped when I got here."
"You mean this?" Without another word, the boy took out a wooden flute from his side and began to play the same breathtaking melody that we heard from afar.
"Yeah that! Were did you learn to play it?" My younger self asked with enthusiasm, her eyes gleaming with interest as a large smiled rushed to her lips.
"I taught it myself." He shrugged, returning a smaller smile, but still reflected that of a angles glow.
"Your lucky..my family wont even let my play anything." I watched as the little ones eyes trying to hold back a few tears that wanted to wash down her face.
"Why not?"
"They believe a girl should only prepare to be a bride then to play a silly instrument." She tried to make it seem logical, but I could easily tell that she, no I mean we both didn't believe it. All our parents wanted was to have the security blanket incase a war were to break out and use my betroths army for backup.
"Sounds like you family got some issues."
"What's an 'Issues'?" I wanted to slap mini-self right then and there, even if it was a memory! Yet than again, it was in the past and even with the a higher intelligence than most children my age back then, I still had some words of the day I didn't know.
"Problems." the boy exclaimed flatly, his violet eyes showing no hint of mockery but just plain unwaveringness.
"I don't think mama and papa have problems." My mini self challenged, scoffing at the boy as he merely shrugged.
"Yet they wont let you play even a piano and rather teach you to be lady like till the day you’re passed off to your future husband."
"Well..they are just trying to do what’s best for me.." I knew it had caught her off guard because..well it caught me off guard to!
"Are you betrothed?" The question stunned the young version of me as she blushed a sudden color of crimson.
"Mama said something about finding one tonight, but I don't think they found any yet." She muttered, thinking as though trying to remember what my parents had said during the New Years party. Her thoughts were interrupted though when the boy unexpectedly leaned into her.
"W-what are you doing."
"Making a promise." I heard him whisper as he gently kissed the back of her little wrist, his eyes slowly drifting shut.
"Promise wha-" My mini me almost made out but a scream erupted when the boy bit her wrist, making a drip of blood spill lightly down his chin. He took a step back and watched as the tiny wound began to heal itself and take form of a pale, out line of a Silver Star with laced designs all around that could barely have been seen with the naked eye with my soft completion. When she touched it, I could see the amazement in her eyes. I looked my own mark, seeing how it was no different even since back then. When I touched it, I felt a wave of comfort and almost pleasure from it.
"W-what is this?" She stuttered, gazing at the beautiful marking with shocked eyes, softly grazing over the smooth marking.
"A Promise. It mean your attached to me, meaning I can read your emotions more clearly but you cant read mine till the mark is filled in with my blood. It will also make sure if anything happens to you, I'll be there right beside you."
"O-ok." Back then; I didnt really know what he meant. I only got a small amount of information when he had spoken those exact words. Yet now, I know what he meant. If he had fully marked me that meant I was his mate, meaning I could never leave him or Id die.
"Come on, I'll take you home." The boy grabbed my small hand within his grasp as he led past self through the bitter forest, making sure to help me whenever they came upon a hill or a fallen tree trunk.
By the time they both had arrived at the home, an hour had passed, yet it felt like it had only been minuets ago that we had left the demon forest. The house stood proud, yet seemed lifeless like always with its gray walls looming over the guest, shadowing the lively sun from its life-giving rays.
"So this is were you live? A bit plain I think." The demon boy finally said, a hint of disappointment in his voice. I guess he expected the manor to more color or something.
"Mama and papa think it's beautiful " My past self commented, trying to act proud of the home like our parents had, yet, we both knew it wasn’t exactly a dream place were you could get away in life.
No, it was more Like a prison were the air is stale, and you could feel almost claustrophobic due to numerous guards surrounding you, watching you, even feeding you and making sure you lived through every bite in case it was poisoned. My parents had a bad cause with making either fast friends, or hostile enemies. Yes, it defiantly wasn’t a dream stay at all.
"They don't know beauty at all." The boy said with a shake of his head, which was non-to surprising since we both had to agree with him on that one.
"Ah! there's Lee! She's my best friend." The younger version of me quickly diverted the subject and pointed to the younger Lee, whom practically stood out like a sore thumb with her fiery hair about the crowed of children around our ages back then. She didnt seem pleased with one of the flirtatious boys as she snapped at one before pushing his filthy hand away from her arm.
"She doesn't look as bad as the others." We heard the boy considered as my mini me raised a brow and stare up with a blank mask.
"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" She questioned, moving a bit closer to the boy to read his facial expression but he didnt seem fazed at all by this.
"Dose it matter?"
"I think it dos-" My little version started but was cut off when the boy softly ghosted his lips over hers, making her blush a slight shade of pink. I had long forgotten that he did that.
"I cant be here, so get going. " He said with a small smile, patting my petite had before backing up so his body was shrouded within the trees concealing shadows.
"Are you going to come and visit me soon?" I called, my brown hues looking up with high hopes.
"Maybe." I heard him say thoughtfully, trying to keep my little hopes up as she began to head forward to our house.
"Bye my demon boy!" I called over my shoulder with a cheery tone, revealing myself within the warm light of the sun that had finally appeared over my home. The dreams walls began to fade, telling me I was slowly awaking in reality. I turned once again, trying to see if maybe the demon boy was still behind me, yet find something much more..frightening.
'It cant be..'
There, not just an inch away from the boy, stood a tall, but proud figure of a man. His glossy black hair gleaming like gems, while his violet eyes reflected the coldness of the blanket of snow.
The boy and the man were slightly similar in some ways..if not..identical.
The boy and the man..that the same features, same lips, eyes, hair..oh god..
The boy and the man were indeed Identical but most importantly..
They were both Rath.
His past met mine..and for the moment, our present was right next to each other.
And that mark meant I was...
Oh Hell!
