Anatomy of a Fiasco

Shackle devolving, explosive chaos.

Drag it, writhing and collapsing,

into the steely exam room,

fluorescence penetrating every vice.

Lash it to the table.

Ignore its bellowing indignation.

Sanitize your hands for relentless probing

and snap rubber to avoid contamination.

Take up your glittering precision blade.

Slice with nerveless fingers through

the outer skin of calamity,

and begin.

Crimson confidence,

Laced with live-giving complacency,

Spatters as you pierce a layer of blindness.

Icily stripped away, that unmasks

Bundles of idealistic nerves,

Demanding irrational objectives

Of the brute muscular power of ignorance.

This disastrous contraption

Runs on fairy tales ravenously devoured,

And bedecks deep-hidden bones – hubris.

Finally, your cold fingers

arrive at the base heart -

immortal arrogance

and deadly ambition.

Surgically, you detach it for exhibition,

holding it high to appease

the feral world,

to ameliorate the anarchy,

to drown the offspring of a fiasco.
