Good morning Lakesdale! It’s 7:20 and the sun is shinning with no sign of rain! And tomorrow we’re going to hav-SMACK!
Tamah’s hand fell off the radio and she slowly rolled off her bed with a thump as she hit the ground. She let out a small groan as she sat up and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. Taking a deep breath and standing up slowly she made her way over to a small vanity. The vanity had many things on it, a hair dyer, a bit of make-up, deodorant, necklaces, bracelets, earrings and anything else a teenage girl would need. There was also a small picture frame with a picture of a middle-aged man and woman sitting on a park bench holding hands.
“Morning Mom and Dad.” Tamah said groggily to the picture, “So it’s the first day of my sophomore year. Thank God I’m not a freshman anymore. The boys made it hell for me last year...but then I could be a senior and they would probably still be jerks to me...So what do you think do I look older?”
Tamah looked at the mirror in front of her. She still looked like herself. She had big hazel eyes and the slightest hint of freckles on her nose. Her short, choppy blonde hair had grown past her shoulders over the summer and she had grown about an inch in height; making her about 5’3“. Sadly compared to her two brothers it didn’t make her look any taller. Both of them are over 6’ foot.
“I have to get Broden and Hiram up and get ready for school. I’ll talk to you guys later.”
Tamah opened her bedroom door and headed down the connecting hallway to the boys’ room on the other side of the hallway. She carefully opened the door and silently stepped in the room. Her brothers slept on twin bed on each side of the room.
Now she had to decide whom to wake up first. To wake up both was suicide; there was no way she would get a chance in the bathroom that way. If she woke up her oldest brother, Broden, he would most likely throw something at her or get up and chase her around the house. This would cause Hiram to wake up and him and Broden would probably start beating on each other. Tamah laughed at this and decided that it would be fun to watch so she creped to the right side of the room to Broden’s bed.
First she shook what she assumed was his shoulder for he was so wrapped up in his comforter that she couldn’t even see his face. When he didn’t respond she shook him harder while calling his name softly, “Broden...? Broden come on get.” But he only mumbled a bit and shifted away from her. “Broden if you don’t get up Hiram and me are going to be late for school and you have to go to work...” When he still did not get up Tamah got an idea. She went to the foot of his bed and took hold of his comforter, ’this’ll get him up’ she thought. And with that she pulled the comforter right off of him with a smirk on her face.
The smirk on her face soon fell when not Broden in nothing but his boxers sat up, but Roy! Roy was her brothers’ best friend since at least 2nd grade. Not to mention Tamah’s crush since she found out that boys in fact do not have coodies.
Roy had dirty blonde, tussled hair and blue-gray you could drown in. He probably had about 10 inches on her too, and he loved to remind her of it. He had an interesting personality. If you first met him you’d think he was mute. He likes to play games with people who didn’t know him well. He would not talk to them even when they addressed him. He would simply look at them like they had two head and turn away from them. He says it’s his way of reading people. Whether he spends five minutes or three hours in that time he determines if he like them or not. If he does like you he’s completely different around you and pretty much acts like a typical seventeen year-old boy. He laughs, makes jokes, and talks about the hott girl he saw the day before. And for the life of her Tamah couldn’t figure out why she was crazy about him.
