the interesting thing about fear is
when I notice it, it leaves.

sometimes it goes for(what seems like)ever
only to come back on a random tuesday,

smelling faintly of leaves decomposing
(but not quite as sweet).

when it comes back, I wonder
why it’s only autumn on random tuesdays

(& why my fear can’t shelter me from you
in every other season).
