Prologue.

--

As the red SUV came to an abrupt halt, Hailey's sub-conscious kicked her in the gut, waking her with a jolt. She growled an-What? Oh, it was her twin brother that had kicked her, not her subconscious. Sorry for the mix-up.

ANYWAY, she growled and countered by smashing her left elbow into the top of his skull.

"Mom! Hailey's hittin me!" The 13 year old boy shouted as loud as it was possible in the SUV, running his hand through his curly brown-blonde hair.

"Did not!" After recieving a stern look from her father, Hailey quieted her voice and continued. "Okay...maybe I did-but I wouldn't have if he didn't kick me in the stomach!"

Their father sighed as their mother pointed accusingly at Anthony (the boy) and yelled, "Dont make me stop this car!"

Hailey stifled a laugh at her mother's obliviousness and turned to look out the window. From the looks of it, the family had reached their destination- the "unknown" as her dad had called it. According to him, the "unkown" would be a green clearing surrounded by a bunch of green-er plants. By those standards, the "unknown" could be the park across the street, or their own backyard, or even the God-forsaken school lunches! So why did she have to waste half her summer at some stupid family reunion? Nobody had volunteered her to spend time out in the "unknown" with a bunch of old people she hardly knew and cousins way too young to have any fun with, when she could've stayed at home all summer swimmin with her budz.

And I sure didnt volunteer myself.

Seconds later the SUV started pulling forward again. Anthony leaned up between the two front seats and asked, "Why are we leaving? I haven't done anything wrong yet!"

"Not the right spot..." Their dad grumbled, bumping the speed up to a whoppin 5MPH. Two minutes later he stopped the engine again and let out a deep sigh. "We're here!" He shouted, with obvious fake enthusiasm, ash he hopped out of the drivers seat and started tugging boxes out of the trunk.

"Oh joy," Hailey grumbled. This would be one helluva summer.
