A/N: I’m not sure where this came from. I thought of it last night when I was sitting on the porch outside looking at the sky, which, by the way, looks beautiful right when it’s starting to get dark out. Really, just go look at it some time, I find it to be rather peaceful.

This is a one shot!

Warning: Rated for brief cursing, mentions of suicide and self-infliction.

Moment

She moved the hair out of her face by shifting her head. Her blue eyes were fixed on the ground. She dared not to look at him. His gaze was piercing. She felt very uncomfortable, trying very hard not to play with her fingers. She really wanted to pull her sleeve back down, to cover her arm.

“Answer me.”

His tone was demanding. It sent a chill up her spine.

“A-about a, a y-year.” Great, now she was stuttering. This was not how she wanted the conversation to go.

“A year? A year?!” she took in a deep breath and looked up. “Yes, a year.”

Sky blue eyes met ocean blue ones. His expression was hard to read, but she could visibly see his eyes soften. They looked much better that way.

“Ariella…you really shouldn’t do this to yourself…….” His tone had softened as well. His voice was filled with concern, worry, and it sounded like……….pain?

“There are other, healthier, ways to dealing with…um…depression……” Yes, it was pain. A small, almost unnoticeable, hint of pain. She looked him in the eyes, as if searching for something in those deep blue eyes that reminded her so much of the ocean she loved. She could almost feel the cool water washing her feet as she walked across the sandy shoreline. She missed it greatly. His eyes always seemed to remind her of such peacefulness.

“Well, I thank you for that, Liam. It’s always nice to know that I can get help with my ‘problems’” But today she was not in the mood for a lecture. Her long blackish-brown hair fell into her face, again. This time she used her hand to remove it. She followed his gaze as his eyes were fixed on left arm.

“Look,” His eyes connected with hers, as she began to talk, “it’s not like I’ve ever attempted suicide or anything.”

He looked surprised. “Really? You haven’t?”

“That’s correct.” She felt somewhat proud, and even dared a smile.

“But, you’ve thought about it?” the smile faltered slightly.

“I………”

“You have……..” he nodded his head as if coming to some sort of conclusion, which only seemed to anger her.

“So what if I have?! Huh? It’s not like I’ve actually attempted it!” She stood up, and practically ripped her sleeve down to cover up her arm full of cuts and scars.

“Damn it, Liam! How is it any of your business anyway?!” Now it was his turn to get angry.

“How is it any of my business?!? The fact that you’re my friend, and that I care a lot about you, that’s how!” He stood up, and grabbed her arm. “This,” he pointed to her arm, “this is not good. This is stupid!”

She tried and failed to wrench her arm away, and only made it sting, for some cuts were still fresh. She winced and hissed in pain, biting her lip.

He quickly let go. “I’m…I’m sorry. Did I hurt you?” He asked gently, placing his hand on the side of face. His touch was soft and warm. She moved her head into his hand, loving the way he caressed her cheek. She closed her eyes for a moment. Her lips parted slightly, as if breathing was hard decision to make.

“It’s not your fault.” She opened her eyes, the tears prepared to fall. “It’s mine.” She reluctantly moved away, immediately missing the feeling of his hand on her face.

“You know, Ari, we care a lot about you.” He took a step forward, and she took a second to admire his short curly brown locks and how they went so perfect with his lightly tanned skin, and gorgeous eyes. She hadn’t realized how close they were, until she felt his warm breath on her lips. She felt a sudden chill creep from her neck all the way down her spine. “A lot of us do; your family and friends. There’s no need to feel so depressed all the time.”

“I- I know, but I just feel so hopeless and lost, most of the time. I don’t know why.” She looked directly into his eyes, they were really close now.

“Well, then come to me. I’ll always be there to talk if you need me.” His voice then became almost pleading. “Just please stop doing this to yourself. Please?”

The tears were falling, now. Racing down her face, destined to meet the floor.

“Alright, alright. I’ll try. But just for you, Liam. Okay?” He smiled softly, his hand moving her hair out of her face. “Okay, Ariella. Okay.”

Their lips met in a kiss. His lips pressed against her cherry red, that needed no lipstick for they were bright on their own and sometimes stuck out on her usually pale face. His arms wrapped around slim waist, and her arms around his neck. They eventually broke apart; he wiped away her tears with his thumb.

He sat down on the bed; his back and head against wall, next to the window. His arms still around her, she placed her head on his chest closing her eyes. They were like that for a while, when Liam broke the silence, eyes still closed.

“Ariella?”

The sixteen year old girl stirred slightly in his strong embrace.

“Yes, Liam?”

The seventeen year old breathed out.

“I love you.”

She smiled softly.

“I love you, too.”

A/N: Well, there you go. I know it’s random and wasn’t that great but I liked it. Well, please review but no flames/bashing please. I’ll go back and fix it later. Much love to you for reading! And I couldn’t think of a good title.
