The Forbidden City Poem

A long time ago there was a city marked friend or foe

A city that no one dared go

A place so scary and full of woe

Where enemies went to cook up more plans

Arguing with one another to bring up demands

Where fearful residents were trapped inside

Hoping that no enemy would find them alive

Where children never roam the streets alone

Lest they wish to be dead, forgotten and left alone

Yet many still come there

Yes they are scared

But they do it for their nation, not wishing that from death they be spared

They spy on the nations whose only desires are to kill

They do this, not of their own will

But the will of their leaders who still have hope for the world

Yes, this is the Forbidden City

A City with no heart

There is nothing left for anyone here

It has already been ripped apart
